Opinions on max rpm/max shift points for 100k mi. TII?
I was just wondering what are some opinions on max rpm and max shift points on a TII, particularly a higher mileage car. I'm not trying to make myself need a J-spec YET, but i do have the $$ for one if i make a mistake. Normally (aggresive drving full-time being normal), I shift at or around 6000-6500rpms, considering this to be optimal point. I would love to hear everyone's personal favorites/suggestions.

With your mods, you're probably making peak power about 7500 RPM. Also, remember that rotaries LOVE to be revved, and short of overrevving, it's the best thing you can do to the car.
Shift accordingly. :D Brandon |
It's a waste of time shifting beyond 7kRPM on a Turbo II, period.  The car does not have enough ports or turbo to go revving that high.  Look at all the dyno sheets, you get serious fall off in power after 6,500RPM...
Unless you running some serious porting or a huge ass turbo, revving just over redline is stressing parts unnecessarily... -Ted |

and with stock precat /cat (don't see anything here in your sig) you'll be cutting off the top end alot. I'm sure you're droping power after 6-6.5k.
