Opinion Needed From ACT Clutch Users
I am considering to use an ACT clutch in my current project build. I am putting together a lightly modified turbo setup (300whp) and wanted to know your take on the drivability of the different ACT clutch kits. This car is primarily a weekend toy, but my wife does drive it to work on occasion (after all, it is "her" car;)). I need a clutch pack that is firm, but not overly agressive for her easy street driving. I am leaning towards the full faced disc set. How agressive is the 6-puck though? Would it be tolerable for the "car un-enthusiest" in my life?

I enjoy my street/strip but the engagement is a little funny. I don't know if anyone else has this issue but the clutch will begin to grab when the pedal is about an inch off the floor. So as soon as you begin to lift your foot it takes off on you. I am used to cars that have a little room before they grab.

The SS clutch is a pussycat to drive. Its *slightly* tricky at first, but after that, you'll wonder why stock cars don't come with it.

my turbo crx came with a 6 puck, i wouldnt advise one to anyone who doesnt want to burn out at everystop light, unintentionally

yeah it will change when but it still wont make a difference on how much space you have between engage and disengage

OK, so the stock street disc seems to be the way to go. What about pressure plates? Are you folks using the Heavy Duty or Extreme versions? It seam that the Extreme pp would be over kill when used with the ss disc (although ACT does offer it as a kit option). I should just go with the standard HD pp, correct?
|
yes. Be prepared for a slight work out on your left leg at first, until you get used to it. Pedal pressure on the HD pp is about a 40% increase over stock.
