Open differential from '91 fit an '88 model?

Hey all, I apologize if this is easily searched, but I could only find information on Limited Slip Differentials.

Does an S5 '91 open diff fit an '88 model?

yes, as long as it includes the stub shafts that go into the diff as well.

s5 stub shafts or s4 stub shafts?

thanks all. quick responses for a quick question :)

Since it would be the 91 diff into an 88, it would need the 91 stub shafts in order to match the diff. In other words, if it's a complete diff assembly, you're good to go. Don't mix and match parts.

This goes without saying that all this is besides the obvious differences between the n/a models 7" differential and the Turbo 8" differential.

you'd be surprised how much stuff people will strip off of parts before selling them. if the stubs aren't in a used diff i'd probably pass on it anyways.
