oooook my new new intake setup: The cheap, ghetto cold air box
ok, after some criticism and suggestions yesterday, i came up with a new setup for my intake,
I made the cold air box pieces out of 2layrs of cardboard, one layer of paper, and one lair of aluminum foil. I used electrical tape for everything because we have a shitload of it laying around. It looks ghetto etc, but as far as i can tell it seems to do the job. The first pic is before, last pics are after http://webpages.charter.net/vtecpreludez/newsetup4.JPG http://webpages.charter.net/vtecprel...ttointake3.JPG http://webpages.charter.net/vtecprel...ttointake0.JPG http://webpages.charter.net/vtecprel...ttointake1.JPG |
Holy hell! You finally did something right, that was productive! *applaudes!*
Sorry, I just have to give you shit. :) |
I see you like tie-wraps too, lol...Get rid of all that AAS wiring (both strut towers) It's beefy hi-current stuff that weighs a ton (not really QUITE a ton, but you get the picture)...I just completed mine out of 1/8" Lexan (with aluminum angles riveted to it for air ramps & attach points)

that sure is one funny lookin airbox. :) can we just see pics of your backyard? looks beautiful out there.

That is ghetto fabulous. It needs to be encrusted in diamonds.

Re: The cheap, ghetto cold air box
Ghetto? That bad boy soils the good name of Ghetto!;)
Just kidding - it actually looks like a decent design. You can even use those cardboard pieces as a template and make it out of metal now! Now just don't forget step 2: You have successfully kept hot air away from the filter - now all you have to do is get cold air to it! |
Hey, i didnt expect this many good comments, not use to it :p: thanks for all the input, ill work on a way to get the cold air in next sometime after i get home from my internet.
edit* thats only my front yard  Sonic: yeah, its about time :) |
Ditch the washer fluid bottle and go CAI!! :p:
http://home.comcast.net/~ddub114/intake/2.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ddub114/intake/3.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ddub114/intake/5.jpg The way I have mine set up you actually might be able to keep the washer fluid bottle, since I made my whole kind of away from it. Not sure though, since it was already gone when I did the install. Here's a couple different threads on how to do it - This one is what mine looks like, even though the way I started out I had not planned on going this route. Unfortunately I did some bad planning (cut the hole before seeing where things line up:doh: ) but it's ok. Once I go turbo'd 6port I will have to redo it anyways, and I have it figured out. Anywways https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=305195 The one I had planned on doing, and the piping I bought to correspond to it is thise one - http://www.nopistons.com/forums/inde...&hl=custom+CAI Seems that cwsttu's pictures are gone now, but if you have any questions or want more pictures lemme know. |

Meh, i dont really feel too much like cutting away my chassis for pro bably like 2 extra HP right now. Ill probably feel like doing it next week, or maybe tomorrow. Too tired right now.

Not bad, not bad at all, pretty smart using tinfoil too!
Suggestion: You might want to dig up a stock snorkel for it :O |

Why go out and buy one when there is a Home depot. That's not the American way. Also I too love your back yard! Looks like a baseball field, props
