Hey last question for the day

Do i need to remove the front eccentric shaft bolt with a huge 3 foot torque bar and a chain grip to keep it from moving or can i just use my air gun. My only fear of using the air gun is that instead of breaking the bolt loose it might turn the motor and do some damage.
Please let me know

Hmm... I'll tell you what I do (and others) without the use of an impact gun.

1. Take a long breaker-bar with a 19mm socket and fit it over the E-shaft bolt
2. Rest/wedge the end of the breaker-bar on the frame-rail thingy underneath your under-hood fuses on the drivers-side of the E-bay
3. Install your battery
4. Get into the car and crank your starter with the ignition--just one pulse is all you need to break the bolt loose.

Make sense?

I don't know about the gun since I've never used one on my Rx7, so I can't tell you the pro's or cons. However, I'm sure that everything would be alright--you're not going to damage the motor.

I have always used an impact gun.

I used an impact gun. Try to loosen it, then tighten it then loosen it again, then tighten it. Keep going back and forth, you just have to break it loose.

I had to use a torch on one once..... a long time ago.....

Some bastard had installed it with Loctite. If I ever find that man, I shall inflict pain and anguish upon him and his entire family.

But an impact should do the trick as long as the above bastard didn't install your eccentric shaft bolt.

I believe it came Loctited from the factory.

if the motor is still in the car, put the car in gear then use the air gun

i used an impact gun and it came right loose without a problem and mine was a gsl-se that had been sitting for about ten years. as long as its a big enough gun and the car is in gear it should come right loose without the motor moving a bit
