One last problem to solve then it Will be perfect: transmission whining in neutral
 

I have one last problem to solve than my Fc will be truly perfect: since i bought the car i have the trasmission whining in neutral with the clutch NOT pressed (foot off from the pedal).

i have read many stories about it: pilot bearing, throw out bearing, main shaft bearing.....

symptoms are that whining is louder when the trasmission is cold; when it's hot the sound is more softer.

other symptom is that when the transmission is cold if i engage the clutch (clutch linked to the gearbox) engine rpm goes down from 50 to 100 rpm.

i have this problem since i bought the car with 64.000kilometers (original)

problem is exactly this one shown in this video.

do you think it is risky keepig the transmission in this state?

car works really well and i can insert gears wthout problems

What is the reliability of the transmission with this problem?

No it is not possible to fill the trans through the tailshaft housing. You will want to will need to remove the filler plug to fill the trans. Heat will work but be careful as the trans is aluminum. Map gas has always been my favorite for removing those if they're stuck. Heat the area around the fill plug but not the fill plug itself. this will expand the metal and will then be less tension on the filler plug. When replacing the trans oil, be sure to remove the filler plug before you remove the drain plug. This does two things. 1, it ensures that you will be able to refill the trans and 2, allows the oil to drain smoothly. Now, no more thread hijacking.

To the original poster, it sounds like the throwout bearing is wasted. Remove the trans and replace the throwout bearing. Be sure to clean the fork and grease the pivot ball and contact points on the fork where the throwout bearing rides. I also apply a small amount of grease to the input shaft collar where the bearing rides on in and out. I recommend an oem Mazda bearing as they seem to work very well and last a long time. Inspect the clutch disc and pressure plate as well. I would likely replace the clutch set, install a new pilot bearing and throwout bearing. Ensure you have the flywheel surfaced when doing so. The nut that holds the flywheel on is a 54mm.

What happens when you lightly press the pedal to eliminate freeplay in the clutch? Freeplay is the space between the release bearing and the clutch pressure plate. You can feel it by pressing the clutch pedal with one finger. It should move a little (don't remember the spec., maybe a 1/4").

If i light press the pedal the whining goes away, but i had to press the pedal till to feel it "hard".
Another detail is: when car is running on the road i don't hear abnormal whining with the gears inserted, but i hear the whining for a second "when - gear inserted " i press the clutch pedal for disengaging clutch from the trasmission. I hear whining only for a second as it "feels" the cluch that is still rotating. But the strange thing is that i hear a costant whining in neutral with clutch engaged (foot off from the pedal) and i hear whining with clutch pressed in (foot that press the pedal) but only when i change gear for a little second (so the transmission is separated from the clutch)....no abnormal whining noises during gearbox working on the street.
