OMP Connecting Rod...? (And other stuff...)
 
I'm still using the oil injectors, but do I need the rod? I followed a walk-through on removing emissions, and I still have the injectors/pump, but the rod doesn't connect to anything (I think it was supposed to go on the throttle) because I'm pretty sure the throttle modification got rid of what it was supposed to connect to. There's alot of connectors for other stuff that don't have anything to hook up to anymore, do I just leave 'em like that? And does anyone know where I can find connectors for my tranny, cuz I bought a used J-Spec and they were cut? I'm really overwhelmed because I took apart the whole engine bay (awhile back) and it keeps taking longer and longer to put back together, and I hafta have a running car by Monday. I have some more questions, but I can't remember them, so hopefully I can ask tomorrow when I wake up, if anyone can help me with the aforementioned problems. Thanks in advance.

yes you need it how else would you regulate the amount of oil going into the motor? the more throttle the more oil. you could run premix.

No, the TB mod has nothing at all to do with the OMP actuator rod's linkage. It should not have been touched.

If the rod is disconnected then the engine has been getting far less internal lubrication than it requires and is probably in a pretty sorry state inside. If you've just done this, reconnect it immediately. If it's been like it a while, start planning a rebuild...

The car hasn't been running at all, I'm just putting it back together and I noticed it wasn't connected to anything. Where does it hook up, 'cuz I can't rememeber, it's been such a long time.
I have a couple of other questions that I remembered...

Where does a FCD hook up? I got one used and have no idea where it goes.
After the throttle body mod, I have alot of slack in the throttle cable, is that ok or am I not hooking it up right?
I removed emissions, do the connectors that I'm not using anymore just hang?
What's the deal with the air pump? Do I hook it back up, or do I not even bother?

Front side if the TB, primary throttle shaft.

Most FCD's plug inline with the MAP sensor on the right strut tower.

The TB mod should make no difference to the throttle cable.

Tape/tie them out of the way.

I'm not seeing where the rod connects. Anyone have a picture I could use as a reference? Also, I hooked up the FCD, but nothing is hooked onto it after I plugged it in...

The ENGINE section of the online. FREE factory service manual, clearly shows on page 1-74 how to connect the rod.

Then you didn't hook it up...

It connects inline with the MAP sensor, i.e. inbetween the MAP sensor and the MAP sensor's plug.

Yeah I saw where I messed up on both parts.
The FCD is fine, thanks for helpin me out there.
I didn't know that the rod could be found in the FSM, cuz I used the FSM to take the motor apart. I found it at the end, like page 70 something. But...I found out that the part the rod connects to, I removed, during the throttle body mod. I found it the part, put it back on, and when I mess with the throttle, the part hooking up to the rod swivels so that the rod doesn't move...
Should I just put all the throttle stuff back on? I feel stupid for making small stuff like this so difficult... =/
If I can figure this out though, I should be able to start the car tomorrow. Going to bed though, thanks in advance again.

I don't know who's instructions you were following, but it should not have been touched. It has nothing to do with any part of the TB mod.

That won't help, because like I said, none of that stuff affects the OMP rod. The problem is that you've reinstalled it wrong. You need to compare your TB it with another one (either in real life or in pics) to see how it should be.

it is critical you fix the omp rod, or start premixxing or your motor will wear out really fast!

I was following the instructions on the Rotary Resurrection site. I was probably being hasty and took off the part that I didn't need to take off. Like I said before, I haven't actually started the motor yet and the car is not running. I'm going to try and compare it with the pictures on that site and the FSM. I appreciate all the help I got from you guys.

It'll rotate/flop around about 1/4 revolution That's normal.
