omp ?

I notice the long rod that go from throttle to the omp was disconnected at the omp. Can i just leave it disconnected and permix. Thanks Tony

What year is the car?
S4, you can remove the OMP and lines and premix. Just be certain to plug the holes properly and block off the opening for the OMP.
S5, you can do the same, but the OMP must stay plugged in at all times or the ECU goes into limp mode.

How about just reconnecting the rod?

hondahater 03-31-05 10:23 AM

how long has it been like that? that isn't good at all! that rod is what gets more or less oil to your rotors the more or less throttle you give it so if it's been like that for a while then you have not been getting much oil at all.

It's a 87 t2 Don't know how much of a pain it would be to get at, to hook up. i'm new at all this.

hondahater 03-31-05 11:12 AM

it would be easier to hook back up then to go premix. If you premix you have to find the right size bolts to fit the stock oil injectors (to get to the oil injectors you have to take off the throttle body and upper intake manifold) plus you have to yank the old omp and buy a block off plate to put where the omp used to be and on top of it all then you have to put premix in every time you fill up, as if gas isn't expensive enough already. It's been proven that premix is better however if you are worried about hooking up that line being a pain then just wait till you venture into premix territory :)

You have to remove the IC to do anything to the TB, so after a while it goes pretty quick.

When you're hooking up the OMP link, check the action of the secondary double throttle.
It tends to stick after >15 years.

Going to hook it back up doesn't look that tuff after all. But i'm still going to permix like 200-1

sorry posted under my boys name.

really all you need to premix is 128-1 wich is 1oz of premix for every gallon of gas :) Good luck!

Without opening up that can of worms again, this has never been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt. All we have are indications that premix may be better in certain circumstances, but no solid proof.

hondahater 04-01-05 10:08 AM

oh ok thanks for correcting me. I've just looked at some of the threads that shows premix rotors to non premix rotors and they look 100Xs better with way less carbon build up. Also from what I hear mazda premixes all thier rotary racing vehicles.

torean 04-01-05 10:22 AM

i premix and all i gotta say is its a PITA...being in NJ its against the law to fill up ur own gas..so when i pull into the station i gotta repeat "gimme a sec to put something in the tank" a few times before the attendant realizes what im saying and lets me add in premix before fill up....then u gotta deal with oily bottles and funnles after ur done....but i probably wouldnt go back to the stock metering system.....if u dont mind the work and the smell...then go for it.....

Aaron your right. So i'm reconnecting the rod like you suggested earlier. But i will premix at a higher ratio. like 200-1. i just hope that ok. thank for the help Tony
