old gas no idle?
 

could old gunky gas cause no idle? i took my car to the mazda dealer cuz i could not figure out what was wrong with the car and apparently neither could they lol there is no vac leak and the maf sensor was replaced cause that was sticking open but still no idle. i called another dealer that had a 7 specialist and said that might be the problem but i didnt actually talk to the specialist. but if any one has had something weird like this happen to them please tell me how u resolved ur issue thanks

if you are in doubt drain the gas and start fresh.

Gasoline formulations change with the seasons. The gas formulations change so as to vary the vapor pressure of the fuel. If the gas that you currently have in your tank is a summer formulation, than it has a lower vapor (compared to a winter formulation) and will not completely vaporize in the combustion chamber. Consequently, the car probably will not idle like it should. Or it could be that you just got some bad gas. Most gas is mixed with ethanol. If the person that blends the gas fell asleep at the switch, than the gas will be overly rich in ethanol which will cause the car not to idle properly. Sometimes gas accumulates condensation. Your car doesn't run on water; consequently, it won't idle properly. Has the gas been in the car for over 6 months? If it has, than it probably has turned to a gummy mess. Gummed up injectors mean poor idle. If the gas is the problem, than I recommmed you drain it, refill with fresh gas and add a can of Gumout (or equivalent) regularly until your fuel system is cleaned out. If that doesn't do any good, than you'll probably need to remove your injectors and send them out to be cleaned.

I have a motorcycle that usually sits 6 months out of the year so I first hand experience with bad fuel issues.
