old gas on fresh rebuild, how do i remove it (drain), or make it better? whats best?
 

ok my car has been sitting a good amount of time, prolly about 8 months or longer, so the gas in it is really old....i am putting in a fresh rebuilt motor and want to know the best idea for me to make this gas the best possible for my rebuild

i really dont know how much of a difference using the old gas would make but i would assume it has condensation from sitting there and will not burn as well, so i want to make the gas as effiecient for my rebuild as possible

It depends on how much fuel is in the tank. If its only a gallon or so, then just top it off with fresh fuel and dump some BG44k in the tank.

If its more, drain the tank and put fresh fuel in. Gasoline likes to varnish up and turn to gunk after several months.

There is a drain in the passenger side back corner of the gas tank if you want to drain it out.... that's probably the best way... and if you want to be super paranoid and clear out whats in the lines... take the line off at the fuel filter (replace that btw) and then turn the car to ON (not accessories... just be sure not to go to start haha...) and it'll pump gas out, let it run for a few seconds to be sure you get the line clear.

wow.....thats crazy. i have the same exact thing happenin to my car. fresh rebuild in a 87 n/a and street ported...haha. i got some of the old gas in mine too (little over a year for mine tho). i was bout to get it out today. i would say that would be the best bet for you. drain it from the drain plag...not sure where it is....or just get a hose out and syphin (not sure if spelled right) it out..nice and easy. least that what i will do....im sure the little bit left over wont hurt that much....with all the new gas youll put in that is. now wouldnt it be crazy if urs was the same color....haha.

mines 8 months, but needs to be drained. my ex friend let this kid piss in my gas tank when i wasnt around. :(

I have run 8+ gsllons that was over 2 years old through a fresh rebuild a few times. Just throw some fresh gas in and let it rip - wont hurt anything. Not worth the hassle trying to drain unless its polluted.
