sure trying to make a short ahifter?:D or do you have a knob that is to tall for the shift leather boot to reach? I had that happen with a FD and just cut it down after the owner asked me to do it. It worked fine still and the throw is the same.

yea, i just got a rx8 shift knob and i have like 1 inch of the rod showing...lol

Suds had the top part of his S5 shift lever break clean off.
So about 1 inch of the rod was sticking out, and he put an aftermarket knob on that.

The only trap is most aftermarket knobs have undersize set screws.
That can be fixed by tapping them out for a larger set screw.

That's a short piece of heater hose to seal the boot.
