What's a good (normal) oil temp reading when its taken from the oil pedestal??

thanks in advance..

I'm wondering this too. For an s5 turbo. I seem to be getting about 210 or so for normal driving, sometimes up to 230. I hit 260 on the track when my motor blew.

It kind of depends on the car.

Generally, around 190-200F is normal.

FMICs tend to cause higher oil temps, around 200-220F.

After hard driving, it may spike to 250F or so but should quickly drop back down.

I generally see about 180F-190F under normal operation. On hot days, it can get up to 210-215F.

Sounds like oil temps range follows water temp ranges very closely.

Yeah, I tend to see about the same temperatures for both. But the oil tends to retain heat a little longer after heating up in traffic, etc... The cooling system sheds heat more easily.
