Oil Pressure TOO HIGH!!! WTF?
 

Well i havent been getting this problem lately but before it hella tripped me out... Before sometimes when i start my car my oil pressure gauge (stock) would freakin shoot up to the top! what is wrong here? I'm just concerned because it might be a clue to something going wrong... thanks

cold starts it does this??? are you using 20w 50???? if soo that oil is like mud when cold and causes higher oil pressure. i use 10w 30 and at cold starts it has really low oil pressure till the cars fully warmed up....

Does the gauge shoot up when you turn the ignition on or when you actually start the engine? If it's the former, it's most likely an electrical problem.

what oil filter are you using? Correct me if I'm wrong but if the filter is clogged or something is wrong with it the pressure would be high like that.

do what NZ said, if your gauge shoots up when you turn the key on with the engine off then check the wire leading to your sending unit, it is probably grounding out somewhere in the engine bay.

if it only goes up when the engine is running then check the pressure and compare it with a mechanical gauge. if you're pressure is too high you probably have a stuck thermostat somewhere, these engines have thermostats and pressure bypasses all over the place so check the lubrication system shematics and troubleshooting grids in the FSM.
