Oil pressure guage

The other day my oil pressure gauge stopped working. it was working just fine until i found this little black relay box with one wire coming out of it, connected to a ground.
and the wire just ripped off when i touched it. then i just grounded the wire thinking it wouldn't make a difference, but then then my oil pressure gauge just stays at 100+. i think thats what it is. but could it be something else? do you know the part number of the little relay so i can change it?
i have an 88 N/a vert

Thanks
Adam

You have shorted the oil pressure gauge to ground. DISCONNECT that wire before you fry the gauge.

The "relay box" is actually a capacitor to filter spikes to the pressure gauge. You can likely find the part number in the parts catalog linked in the FAQ. No harm will come if you run without it for a while.
