oil pedestal O rings
 

Is there an replacement source other than stock from the dealer or even Mazdatrix? Almost $5 each seems harsh for those two tiny rubber donuts.

I guess the real question is whether it's worth the cost difference to measure the OEM o-rings with some digital calipers and source some different ones.

There is not much hope in using a micrometer on the used orings. They will have a permanant oval distortion...

I used Green O-rings from my Mastercool refrigeration master oring kit. The orings are considered an upgrade over the original neoprene in refigeration. The material is HNBR. Higher temp ratings than neoprene, and appropriate for Dino oil or synthetic oils. (http://www.pspglobal.com/teflon-oring.html) I just matched them up by size to the oring grooves in the pedestal. There was not much doubt as to the 'right' size.

I did this 5 years ago. No leaks or issues.

You could also just hit any any hydraulic store with the old rings or the pedestal and buy a few in Viton.

Great information. I can take the pedestal and get O-Rings that just fit. But what would be the correct thickness of, say, one made from Viton? I guess the question should be, what is the thickness of a new stock one?

I just Gooled Viton, pretty good stuff.

I purchased a o-ring kit from the local hardware store. They come in neoprene, viton etc. This way, I now have o-rings for most anything.

Didn't cost a whole lot either. <$10
