oil metering pump leak
hi, after searching a good amount of time on my engine i finally saw whare the leak was coming fro, i assume the oil leak is coming from there because the omp, the lines of the omp, and the right side of my steering rack(just above the omp) is covered in oil. normally the leak was normal not too much but last time i used the car there was a big puddle of oil on the floor, the leak had grow a lot. any suggestions of where to start on the omp to know where its leaking from??????

degrease the area, run the car, then look

mine had a huge crack in the black part of it. be careful when you go to replace it though.... the omp lines tend to break easy if they are old.

damn my friend's FD had viciously cracked OMP lines when we pulled it apart a couple weeks. I think it will be obvious when you look at them.

There are two common leak points on the metering oil pump: the lines and the o-rings that seal the pump.
If the lines are leaking, replace or rebuild them. If the metering oil pump itself is leaking, then you can rebuild it as well. Search for "mop rebuild". The only way to find the leak is to degrease the area until there is no stray oil and then run the car until you spot the leak. |
The LEVER on the oil pump is the most suspect place for leakage. The o'ring for the LEVER can be had from McMasterCarr. Find the OMP rebuild link by KungfooRoy (I think it's his).
