oil light
 

Every once in a while, randomly the oil light will go on and a beep will sound.....but only for about less than half a second. You barely notice it.

My guess is obiously that I need an oil change, but I just think it's weird that it'll randomly turn on and then turn off. It usually does it while I'm turning. And I stupidly reved it to 4.5K on a cold engine because I wasn't paying attention. And when I did that the oil light came on but it turned off when I shifted up.

Well I'm changing my oil tomorrow morning, I was just wondering if it could be more than just the oil..........but I am due for an oil change in like 200 miles.

yea. sounds like your oil is low, more than anything really. Theres a sensor in the pan, that when exposed to no oil, triggers the beeping and light. Check your oil level.

There is also a oil pan baffle from mazdatrix that prevents oil sloshing when hard driving. You install it between the oil pan and block. This assures that the engines oil pickup tube is always getting oil, even during hard cornering. Last thing you want to do is starve the engine of oil at 7000rpm during a drift or something ;)

No, if the OIL LEVEL light comes on it means you need to top up your oil! You should've filled it up straight away instead of bothering to ask about it here. I hope you realise that rotaries consume oil by design. That means you have to regularly check the oil level, not just ignore it until an oil change is due.
