Oil Leak...Sooo F*ing tired of it
 

alright ive been trying to track down my Oil leak It seemed to be coming from the OMP and i wanted to switch to Premix anyways so i blocked it off...no change at all. I then put a peice of newspaper right beneath the oil pan and it seemed to be coming right beneath the front passanger side corner of the oil pan so after 5 long hours i was able to get the new oil pan gasket on and in place and to my dispair...oil still coming off the crossmember pretty bad. so has anyone had an oil leak coming from this area. i heard it could be the front cover so i filled in the crack of the front cover in the area that looked to be around where its coming from. Sooooo freaking tired and pissed about it and i need to go to an autocross even this weekend and i dont know if it will pass inspection. HELP please

Go buy some engine degreeser and clean the shit out of the engine. Then start the engine and let it idle normally, watch it carefully and closely to find the leak. That's about the best i can help you with. I had leaks too but it was mostly from the OMP.

a true rotor will always have a small oil leak it seams lol. damn we gotta love these cars lol

rotary engines also use oil, not always leak or burn it

This is a fairly common problem that lots of 2nd gen owners have. I think i remember reading somewhere that its caused by the tourque of the engine mount moving around and warping the pan, however I have the memory of a 2 yr old child and I might have made that up :D

i have some kind of oil leak too and cant seem to stop it but i think i added to much oil to it so it might be leaking out the hose or something so i hope its that. any ideas

I've owned two FC's so far.

The first one I had for nearly a year and a half. It never leaked a drop.

The current one I've had for a bit over four months. First, the oil pedistal started leaking heavily so I took advantage of the situation and installed an FC3S.org oil filter pedistal (comes with new O-rings.) No more leaks... for about two weeks. Now I have some new mystery leak, just waiting to be discovered. :mad:

Shit, mine didn't come with any rings... I had to order them. Sucks cause i installed it without replacing them and i dumped 4 quarts of oil all over my driveway finding that out.

Is this a turbo or non? The oil feed and return lines (on a turbo) can leak, usually the return line first. The pressure fitting on the feed line is ususally pretty good unless it's been removed and reinstall a bunch of times.

non turbo, I'm acually eyeing the oil pressure sender now. I haven't had the car on stands yet because I haven't had the money to fix whatever I find. :(

Time for some oil system dye. Yes, do clean the shiat out of the engine areas, install the dye. Drive around for a while/day/days. Get a blacklight, find out what's up! :D
