oil leak please help
 

i have posted numerous questions tyo learn more about my rex, now that i finally understand most of the intricasies of the engine i fear the worst, today i discovered a oil leak on my precious 88 SE n/a, she has been running like a dream, but there was a oil leak, a slow leak, coming from near the oil filter as best as i can tell, if u have any ideas, any of you, on where this could be leaking please help me:( i am afraid my rex is done for, she overheated bad cause my thermal sensor on my electric fan did not work and malfunctioned, i bought the sensor from summit racing with my perma-cool fan, is there nay ways i can hold summit racing or perma-cool liable if my engine is blown??? polease help!!! where could the leak be comign from???

You said you replaced the o-rings under the oil filter pedastal, but you might have cooked them when your engine got hot. Also, check where the oil pressure sender screws into the block. Its under the oil filter too.

Have you checked out the coolant since you overheated it? Let the car warm up, leave it idling, and take the radiator cap off. If you see little bubbles coming up, you warped a housing. If not, you dont need to worry yet. Also, pay attention to your coolant levels, and see if your engine appears to be burning coolant. A slow coolant leak that you can never find could be warped housing too. But unless youre losing coolant, but never see a puddle under the car, or see bubbles in the coolant with the rad cap off and its running, its probably fine.

i founf the oil leak it is around the oil pan a bit,
also i is dripping off something on the fron of the engine, i will try to describe......on the left side of the engine looking just to the left of the main pulley system there are 4 wires that are clear like clear tubes with sometihng in them, fuel?, oil?, well at the base of theose wires there is a resevoir looking thing with a front plate, its about 2 inches wide and 1 inch high, the fron has a plate bolted or screwed onto it, what is this??? and why would i be leaking oil off of it or around it? is the seal just worn or is this a bad sign???

Thats the Oil Metering Pump. Either fix that immediately or run premix. if not, plan on a rebuild very soon.

Yup it's the OMP. A fairly common culprit of oil leaks. Replace the main "O" ring on the pump and you should be fine. Mine leaked and it dripped down and flowed off of the oil pan.

the leak isnt bad so can i drive it 15 miles??? also how do i fix it?? am i supposed to take off that smnall front plate and reseal it o is it something else? is this what could be casuing my car to run so slow ??

I don't think the OMP is the reason why your car would be "slow". As for driving it, it kind of depends on why it's leaking, the housing of mine cracked and the pump stoped working :( chances are for you it's just the "o" ring, or it could also be the back plate which also uses a small "o" ring. It's not a very hard job to remove the pump. Take off the oil lines to the pump there should be four of them. Then the pump itself is attached to the block with two bolts. You will also have to remove the linkage to the throttle, it's just a small cotter pin, needle nose pliers will do. Now if you dont want to do the work yourself and are concerned with driving it, just go out and get some two stroke oil and run a bit of premix in the gas just as a little insurance.
