Unless you have some box wrenches. Then you can use one to add torque to your ratchet.

You 'dont' have a breaker bar? What kind of human being are you... What happens when you need to give someone... I mean a tight bolt a good beatdown?

Got a soft-faced (rubber or hard plastic) hammer?

Put a good 12-point end wrench on it and swing away...

Your best bet is a 6-point socket wrench.
The old 12-point sockets won't handle stuck or jammed bolts & nuts.

If the hex head is rounded off, there are now available the female version of screw extractors.

CO2 fire extinguisher, freeze the shit out of the plug, it will contract away from the pan and you can turn it out by hand (noooo, dont do that). I will loosen up from contraction and be easy to turn (use a wrench....)

or get a can or air from a coumputer stor and turn the bitch upside down. co2 right there in liquid form. freeze the fuck out of it.

Adapter time!

You know you can make a temp high pressure breaker, by sliding a piece of pipe over the end of a socket wrench to lengthen the handle (not recommended for cheap home depot style tools).

i know that, i dont have pipe to put on it.

All you need for a breaker bar is a piece of pipe. Just slip it over the ratchet handle to make a longer lever.

I use my old mountain bike handle bars for my breaker and it is sweet.

Light weight so you don't get tired but long and strong enough to take my full weight(Damn flywheel nut!)

Buy some 1/2 drive sockets, you'll snap a 1/2" - 3/8" adapter in half if you try to use it on a stubborn bolt..

i kind of started laughing when i first read it...don't know if it would even work...maybe i'll try this next time i need to get at a wheel bearing...


yeah, another thing is it is hard to use a long breaker bar or get much leverage if you are using jackstands. transmission plug is a bitch too...i know Honda uses square ratchet plugs for some of their drains (you just stick your standard square ratchet head into the plug). no way in hell you can strip those...

but anyways, i've found just a lot of swearing and kicking works...don't be afraid of pulling as hard as you can! just don't strip the bitch...

may i also suggest switching to a valve drain instead of messing with bolts. especially with these cars you may be changing oil often, so save yourself some trouble and get one of those...do a search for more info on that...

I've never had a problem on any car with a breaker bar, I can change my oil on my RX-7 (or any of my cars) w/o even jacking it up..

My TII's at stock ride height and I'm a skinny mofo....no way I could fit under the car...
