oil cooler lines
ight guys im in school right now so i dont have time to search for my oil thread.
basically my oil cooler lines was dripping i thought it was from the oil cooler so i replaced the crush washers. now i realized that its coming from the actual lines or crimping. but now im dripping like a quart as my dip stick indicates L .... what i wanna know is can i get home like this.? i live like 17miles from school. the reason why im scared is that i read some where that these lines start to weep oil when they are failing. so now im LIKE WTF. i found a hydraulic shop that would make new lines for me for less then 100 bucks is this a good option? :( |
did it drip a whole quart while it was sitting, or from the drive from home to school?
|
OK GUYS IM home!!
do it drip..leaks ...flows out of the top line when its at idle. as i drove it home and it spotted at red lights if i let it idle. so at the next red light i held it at 3k 60psi and i didnt see nothing when i drove off but when i stopped at the post office ran in and ran out it was pouring on to the floor. seems like at higher psi the hose expands and seals the hole.. at lower psi it pours. i dont kno what to do if i should just park it and take the insurance off or what i should do seems like that motor is getting ready to go on it also... im so pissed |
If it's pouring oil out, DO NOT drive it anymore. Either get some new oil cooler lines made at the shop you mentioned, or buy some pre-made ones from Corksport: http://www.corksport.com/corksport-s...s-for-rx7.html, or elsewhere.

Getting lines made using the stock fittings at a hydraulic shop is a good, cheaper alternative to buying pre-made lines. An added benefit is it also keeps the hardline portion that runs alongside the engine to the back oil inlet.
|
Dont mean to hijack, but do you know wich of the ports in the cooler is inlet and wich one is outlet?

Get a copy of the factory shop manual. That will answer most of your questions:

Thanks for the link.
Lots of good info there! |
Yesir! You may want to also get a copy of the appropriate Haynes manual. Many photos in there that can be helpful.
