Oil Cooler Bolt Size?
So I'm working on removing the engine from my '87 TII, and I have come across a bolt I do not have a big enough socket for. I just need to know the size of the head so that I can go to the hardware store and buy the right size socket.
It is the bolt that bolts the oil cooler line to the rear of the engine, it's pretty big lookin, I'm guessing 22 or 24 mm, but does anyone know the exact size for the head? Thanks! |
22mm IIRC.

Either 22 Or 23 Mm

Off to the hardware store!

23MM I believe.

I have to think that Snap-on or Mac got to the engineers and specced that weird size...it's the only time I've ever seen it. I have a pretty good tool selection and when I ran into the oil cooler fittings I was like, "WTF?"... I wondered for a while if it might be Whitworth or some other asinine spec for a while. |
After 3 trips to the hardware store and not being able to find a 23mm, it was vice grips, liquid wrench, and a breaker bar that came through For Teh Winz

I remember having to go through a lot of sockets before finding the correct one. I should organize my stuff. |
A 15/16ths 6 point socket works just fine.
