oil change time
so i searched and read the many posts on this subject. from my take there has to be a hybrid style oil made only for the 7! just kidding. so if i use 10w 30 snythetic i will be ok? or does it come down to what you prefer? the posts seemed to get into and argument on this is better than that. just want to know. thanks.

There is in fact an oil spefically designed for the rotaries, an EXPENSIVE oil. The 787b used it but it's designed for racing cars using premix.
If you stick with high quality synthetics you will be fine. Lower quality ones however tend to leave undesirable residues in the engine so if you don't want to spend too much on oil just buy regular oil. And yes 10W30 is just fine. |
I use regular 10w30... I heard too many bad stories about synthetics in rotaries...

cool thanks for the advice.

If you ran premix, then you can use synthetic oil.
Btw..where can i get a 787b oil?? (wanna try it atleast once). |
10W 30 is too thin for the summer. Use 20W 50. Run synthetic or dino oil, doesn't matter. Oil grades are in the FSM/Haynes/Owners manual.

Check the oil chart in the FSM/Haynes/Owners manual.
From memory, 20W 50 is specificed for all temps above zero degrees. For weather above about 10 or so, 10W 30 is too thin. |
20W50 year round in SoCal is probably your best bet. It will provide your best bearing protection.

awesome! thanks again for all your help. im on my way to do this. with the aid of the service manuals!
