Oil cap off, no smoke. Oil cap on Blue smoke.
Ok so for quite some time i have been having this problem. If the oil cap is on my car, it will blow blue smoke. Sometimes at idle for just a couple of seconds then stop. Hower, when i really get on it WOT etc and let of the throttle, i see a nice little blue cloud following the car for about 2 seconds. Car runs fine other then that, lotsa power but just that damn smoke. (and of course it floods allot) Some one once told me it could be my EGR valve but how exactly could that do it?
Anyone got any advice??? I dont want to just leave the cap off as a bandaid, i wanna fix it. Bandaids after 2 years is kinda sad if you know what i mean. Heres my car 87 T2 racing beat turbo back exhaust with FC defender. Bonz cone filter. Super Afc for fuel Split air pipe to cat blocked off. Jacobs FC1000 ignition. All other Emmisions stuff is still on the car AVC, EGR, etc....block off plate coming this week :) |
Check your crankcase vent... there should be a line coming off the oil filler that goes into the intake. If it's plugged, you'll build up pressure in the crankcase.

Your side seals could be going... and if it's flooding a lot, you could be losing compression.

i had the compression checked not to long ago and they said that it wasn't to bad
i wanna say like 90 each but i dont remember for sure. I cant help but think that something is building up pressure in my engine but im not quite sure where. Ive hat the crankcase vent off befor but i cant remember if that helped or not. so i guess i will do some experimenting tomorow. What else could cause a pressure build up in the case? would any of my emmisions stuff do it or would it all pretty much be hoses and such? If it is my oil seals how can i tell? any body out there got a checklist for me to go down? Any help would be great, cause i really wanna fix this one. Thanx Augie |
