ohmmeter or 2 lights?
alright so now my car wont rev past 1500 rpm while in neutral so i figured ide reset me tps, well after getting it warmed up for about 10 to 15 mins i sweeped my tps with an ohmeter and it was at about 1.4 closed throttle. so i set it back to 1.0, perfect, then i tried the 2 lights and they both lit up so im like wtf its perfect. so i start turning and by like 4 turns later one light finally goes off. then i rechecked it with the ohmmeter and now it shows about 1.3 or 1.4 closed throttle????? its supposed to rest at 1.0 ohm to be perfect right? or should i go by the 2 lights?

Hot engine.
Screw fully counterclockwise. Key ON. Turn the screw clockwise til one light comes on. Turn the screw clockwise some more til both light come on. Turn the screw anti clockwise til only one light is on. And if I were you, I'd disconnect the tps and try reving the engine over 1500 and see what the results are. If the results are the same, then it isn't a tps problem. If it is a tps problem, it's most likely the pot being shot. You connect a meter to the top pin and one of the lower pins and watch the meter in OHMS during the full travel of the tps. The reading should not fluctuate. It should go up/down the scale without any *opens*. |
cool. thanks... what i did was first i let the engine warm up, turned it off then did the light thing till only one light came on then i disconnected the tps and set it to 1. ohm... ill do it your way tomarrow
