Well, I was doing some thinking, and I've noticed a few threads about guys wanting to know what type of turbo to run, so I figured I'd start one that would allow all of you guys and gals to come to one place. Now, I know I'm not turbo'd yet, but I'm going to ask about my future choice anyway. Here's how it could be set up:

Car's Purpose- to be a daily driver that can smack around Z06's, Cobra's, older Viper's, etc.
Flywheel HP Goal- mine is in the neighborhood of 425-460
Spool/ Response- relatively quick, smooth spool (kicking in somewhere between 2500 and 3800 rpm's)
Setup- single

Honestly, I think this might be a pretty good idea and it may be helpful. Thanks for looking into it if nothing else.

if you want that ... get a 62-1 ball bearing turbo with haltech e6k big front mount weight reduction and there you go oh and a after market mainfold

t04e 50 trim with a .81 a/r hotside (a conservative quickspool a/r), HKS log manifold, tial 38mm wastegate, custom downpipe, custom oil lines, you're set.

It's all useless unless you tell use how much _&$_%&$_ money you're willing to spend...

450 flywheel horsepower ~ 390ish rwhp

a 60-1 will get the job done just fine

if you have more money to spend a gt35R will get it done with a quicker spool

Will a tial 38mm wastegate bolt to the HKS manifold? And is 38mm big enough to avoid boost creep?

GT35R, HKS GT (60mm) wastegate and yeah, it feels good :D

Large single ported S5 motor w/ T60-1 .70 comp A/R 1.00 will get you 500rwhp @ 20psi on 110 fuel... and detuned to 14psi on pump gas (92) will get you 455rwhp... These figures are work for me... of course the fuel system is a whole other part of the equation.

The turbine wheel sizes depend on your porting and how much HP you want to make...

Agree on the HKS manifold as I have the same one. Don't GT 40 turbo's cost alot to re-build?

Gt35Rwill get you there, and will be realitively quick spool and very nice torque curve!

I've got my entire old setup for sale for $800

Garret 60-1
.7 a/r compressor housing
T4 .96 a/r undivided turbine housing w/ 3" v-band
P-Trim
Needs a new turbine wheel ($450 +/-)

Greddy Type R wastegate
Plumbed back into a stainless 3" dp
Greddy cast exhaust manifold w/ spacer
Have all gaskets and hardware

I went with a ss tubular header and much larger turbo.

This setup made 380+ @ 16 psi w/ minimal boost lag and no boost creep issues.

Thats exactly what I was gunna say.... You can describe a setup all you want, but if you cant afford it then theres no point.. You need to say how much you willing to spend, that way we can see what options you have.

Well, umm, thats not really important right at the moment. This thread is mainly about which is the most efficient and gives the biggest bang for the buck. BTW, your FC looks nice MARTIN.

Most efficient is any number of Garrett GT-series turbos - the GT3540's are very well matched for the 13B.

Certainly not a $1,000+ Garrett GT-series turbo...

There is no such thing as "most efficient" and "bang for the buck" in the same sentence when talking about turbos.

Best will mean newest tech.
Newest tech means most / more expensive.

Budget means EVERYTHING when talking about turbos models.

You're wasting our time, and we'll be wasting your time unless you wanted to start a LONG thread that ends up being a back-and-forth discussion on what's the best turbo for your application...

Well, this thread isn't for me! Its for EVERYONE that has a question about said subject. I was mainly posting my needs for an example for the format.

well heres something i would like to know, cheap, reliable, but fast, looking for maybe 250-350 hp? maybe more but a daily driven 6 port

All-out-blank-check set-up?
I'd go twin GT2835's.
At $2,000+ for the turbos and at least another $1,000+ for the manifolds and auxiliaries, this should kick almost any single turbo set-up.

400hp best spooling single?
GT3540.
Proven set-up with quick spool due to the BB center.
This is still a $1,000+ turbo.

400hp for cheap?
60-1 or T04E "60" or TS04.
Using a "cheap" HKS cast manifold, this will do 400hp easily.
