OEM Fog Lights
Does anybody know where can i find a yellow light bulb for the OEM Rx7 fog lights?
I went to pepboys but they didnt have the double prong bulb at all. |
Online. I can't even remember the last time stores carried H3C bulbs
|
There H3C'S? when i went the guy told me they h3somethings.
Anyways thanks for the info man. |
If you want to make your USDM fogs identical to JDM fogs, the proper way to do it is to install the yellow filter over the standard clear bulb. Search for "lexus yellow capsules" and you'll find what you need. I just converted a set of my own.

Here is what I bought. They are a direct swap into the stock s5 fogs. You have to reuse your original bulb in this housing. Lexus JDM Yellow Capsules Retrofit Fog Light H3C H3 HID Bulbs Toyota Supra Mkiii | eBay

Well i found some yellow lights online but do the covers fit on the oem lights
|
He said it was a direct swap. I would imagine they go over the stock bulbs and you're done.

RotaryResurrection has been around a long time and knows his stuff, so be glad he is willing to help you.
I couldn't find the right bulbs for mine either, but you can rewire the socket. You can use regular H3 bulbs and just ground the socket. |
Upgrade to a 3000k HID kit. Cut off is the same, you get the yellow lights you are wanting, and you get a much stronger light to pierce fog when you actually need them.

For the record, JDM fog lights do not have a yellow bulb in them. The yellow they illuminate comes from the reflective material at the back of the lens, not the bulb. I cleaned up mine before installing them.
Without them illuminated you can barely see the yellow on the back of the lens unless you hold them at the right angle. You can barely see it on the right side of the lens. https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...25952877_o.jpg With them illuminated you can see the white/clear bulb shining in the center and outside the bulb the yellow is reflecting out. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...96992241_o.jpg Putting yellow covers over the bulbs will make them yellow, but I imagine a much more striking yellow than the JDM ones actually are. The yellow is very subtle and to be honest if I had the money I wouldn't pay what they are going for. But I got mine for awfully cheap so no regrets from me. |

Wouldn't pay that much either. Where did you get you fog lights?
You can put caps over USDM bulbs and make them yellow, but doing that doesn't make them identical to JDM...if that matters to you. |
For the record, here is a set of OEM JDM fogs taken apart with pics posted of the OEM yellow capsules.
