OE Exedy clutch (searched)
Hey dudeskis I am a shitty mechanic and accidentally got grease on my clutch disc while re-packing my pilot bearing (probably should have replaced it)
So now needless to say my clutch is toast (that with a combination of other things), and I need a new one. I currently have an ACT 4 puck sprung with a RB heavy duty pressure plate, and I think I nom'd the pressure plate / flywheel driving it in traffic and slipping it alot. I am just considering going back to an OE style disc, because my car is NOT a race car and that beastly ass clutch is unnecessary (even though I loved it) I will say however, that I am a "spirited" driver and I need a clutch that will hold up to that. (not slip) and I was wondering if the Oe clutch kit from Mazdatrix would be up to the task, or if I should go with something a bit more heavy duty. My car is bone stock engine wise, with the exception of a header. SHORT FORM My clutch blew up I need one that doesn't suck. will the OE exedy one do? Thanks a bunch! |
Why don't you just replace the clutch disk with an OEM type and use the HD pressure plate you have?
Give it a try, the disk would only be $35-40 |
I would totally do that, but mazdatrix sells the whole kit and caboodle for like 174, and I assume that my pressure plate is done for based on the amount of slippage :(
I should mention that the car is my DD and I have been driving it with the janky clutch like 60+ miles a night |
ya. i bought the stock exedy setup for my gtu with t2 drivetrain. i loved it, i kicked that thing around sooooo hard. i have my old flywheel and clutch setup if you want it. pm me for details

For what you have, the Exedy clutch kit will do great. If you're worried you could pay a little more and get an exedy stage 2 clutch for it which is still streetable, but with a little more bite to it. But I ran an OE exedy in a turbo car I had that was probably hitting around 250hp and it took that engine's beating just fine.
Short version: You'll be just fine with an OE exedy kit. |
Awesome, thanks guys :D
