Odd temp Problem

Hey Guys,

I recently dropped a fresh motor into my car and went and got a run in tune as went to a bigger turbo so the AFR would have been messed up a little from the previous tune, the ECU is a Apexi PFC.

The car never went over 194F water temp on the dyno, when i drove it home the car slowly got warmer and warmer and i switched it off at 208F, it wasnt driven hard at all and oddly it slowly cooled down when it was stationary at the lights but when its moving it starts to get warm.

My previous motor ran at 185F all the time and the only thing i have changed is the turbo, removed the OMP and no heater. I dont believe its the tune or an airlock as it behaved on the dyno, however could the under bonnet temps be quiet high with this new turbo? which i find hard to believe as its not even boosting, now during the dyno the bonnet was up and you have a big fan blowing air everywhere thats the only thing that was difference from the dyno to the drive home this mite sound stupid but should i take it for a small drive without the bonnet on to see how it behaves so i can see if i need to invest in a vented bonnet.

Cheers

Was thier a large fan blowing into the engine compartment when it was running on the dyno? I am willing to bet it's your fan clutch.

Yer there was a large fan blowing some of the air into the engine compartment, however i have an electric fan which was running the whole time.

Also my vacum at idle is sitting at 0.2 x 100 Kpa (someone said ur turbo is spooling harder than it should and is causing the heat, should a street port motor with a Garrett 35/82 turbo have that amout of vacum apparently it should be 0.4 or higher. i dont know much about what vacum levels should be...
