O2 sensor wire 88 GXL

So I ripped the wire out of the clip for the O2 sensor wire right behind the intake plenum and i was curious to where the other end runs to? If I can just run a replacement around or if i got to remove the plenum to get to it? Thanks

The O2 sensor wire leads back thru the engine harness and goes thru the firewall on the passenger side where the large bundle goes thru the grommet. You can try to untangle the bundle at some point on the right side of the engine and splice into it there. Or, it might be easier just to run a new wire from the ECU thru the same hole in the firewall and right up to the O2 sensor.

would you happen to know what pin number the O2 sensor wire goes in on the ecu clip

If your car is like mine (it should be, mine is an 86, also normally aspirated) it is pin 2D. Connector two is the mid-sized one of the three on the ECU; it is 18 pins. 2D should be second from the right on the bottom row. The wire color code is Green with a Yellow stripe (GY).

You can cut it there and butt spice onto the lead that goes into the ECU.

You could also trace the wire bundle back from where the break is, unwrap it, and find the GY wire there in the engine compartment, and splice into it behind the engine. That would save you having to cut into the wire at the ECU.

A complete manual with wiring diagrams, color codes, pinouts, etc. is available online at
http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory...ual/1986_1988/

Make sure you look at the chapters for the normally aspirated car (I assume your GXL has not been converted to a turbo...)

Make triple sure you have the correct wire before you cut anything.

After you are done, check the car for trouble codes, and verify closed loop operation (search this site for my posts on the 'green lamp' test). That will verify that your ECU is talking to and playing properly with your O2 sensor.
