Which o2 sensor to buy?
 

I wish to replace my o2 sensor on my 88TII. Which o2 sensor to buy? Mazda dealer price is $200.00 +, I see that Bosch and Denso are a couple of makers for the o2 sensor. Anyone have any recommendations on where and which one to get? thanks.

I bought the bosch for 60$cndn. I noticed a difference right away compared to my old one.

One thing with the bosch though, is that it just BARELY fits into the o2 sensor removal tool, you really got to jam it in there becuase the wire is in the way.

Well, can you not just use wrench to remove the sensor? Also, what difference did you notice specifically?

O2 sockets make life MUCH easier...Hmm, don't seem to recall having a problem getting the Bosch sensor into the socket...

For S4 cars, Bosch part number 12054 is a direct fit for our cars- harness connector included...

I got my bosch at checker for $25. It does its job, so it works for me.

O2 sensor sockets have a slot in them for the wire to go through... I had no problems using one with a Bosch O2 sensor. Unfortunately I've never been able to get the sensor out without the socket.

You can go to any parts store and pick up a universal Bosch sensor for about 20 bucks that works great, you just have to cut an existing wire and connect it to the O2 sensor's wire (the sensor is made for this).

Although I'd be tempted to spend a couple of extra bucks for one with the direct plug next time I replace it.

I know you can pick up the Bosch ones at www.thepartsbin.com for really cheap. I know they also have the NGK ones there for not too bad a price (last time I checked). You might want to check them out.

I got the Bosch with the direct plug for 37.99 at autozone, I rented the tool at the same time.

The socket that I had barely fit with the wire. What happened is that the plug for the wire in the plug itself was too high, and was poking out the opining to where you put your 1/2 driver to turn it. I had to work with it but eventually got it tight enoughe.

If you use an o2 socket with a longer shaft, this isn't a problem

Is a 02 sensor socket... like an impact socket, with a strip cut out the side?

The strip cut out is like 1/2"... and looks to be 02 sensor size. If so, HOT DAMN, I have one :D
