noob question on engine rebuild
when reassembling any rotary engine is there any special way to put the rotors back in? is there a groove they fit into or is there a way to put them in wrong? i know the seals and springs are different on each side of the rotor but what about rotation/ timing wise?
i have watched alot of videos but they seem to just drop them in without showing where to put them on the crankshaft.... any info would be nice. |

???
so just as long as one of the corners of the rotor are lined up with one of the notches? then what about the second rotor? just point it in the opposite direction? |
Itll only really fit in one way, as far as is my understanding. I've watched people reassemble rotaries before and it only really meshes with the gear and sits in the housing one way. You could get it one tooth off I guess, so I guess that's why it says to line it up in the FSM.

after u put the first one in, the 2nd one only fits in 1 way.

This video should help:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijJeUk_GqiI It doesn't really matter where you place the rotors. I generally put the front rotor apex down and then the rear rotor ends up apex up. They only fit one way. If you have the position slightly off then the housing won't lower down until the rotor has been moved. |
yeah once you actually get in there it's not a big deal to get the rotors lined up. worry more about dropping a corner seal
