Hell yeah the N/A are real sports cars!! Let me tell you, I had a 1988 N/A base model, no ac, no power windows. I added custom-made headers, intake, mdracing ecu-chip,2.5 inch mindtrain cat, no precats, 2.5 inch dual exhaust. This car's base horsepower is 146hp. I never dynoed the care but I had to be somewhere around 180-185 and it was fast!! I mean very fast, with the light weight and all, so yes those N/A will haul out no mistake about it. When those 5th and 6th ports open, BYE!!

 

The N/A is a sport car. Had an 88 base model that would show a v6 camaro my taillights. That dude who said a camaro or v6 mustage would beat a rx7 in straight line is probably right, if rx7 was not modded. Mine was modded and I even gave some TII's something to think about. The N/A's can become very fast cars, nowhere near a TII but they have advantages as far as weight is concerned. So yes, N/A rx7's are true sports cars. Might even be purest form of any sports car ever made .

 

pshhh, my 86 NA is riding on the new 350Z's back bumper at the drag strips. 14.7 sec 1/4 mi.

 

 

All 7's are sports cars. The 2nd gens hate the 1st gens. The turbos hate the N/A's. Both hate the convertable. And the FD's hate us all. Who cares? At least we are not driving civics and other famliy cars trying to act all hard. **** there are very cars cooler than ours. For the money.

The second generation FC... whatever series is definatly the BEST sports car ever made. even if it doesnt have a turbo... it was still designed and tested as a sports car. And for the money it was the best EVER made. Period

The NA RX-7 as really what the 80's Z should have been...the '87 sport really emphasizes what an NA sports car of the age is...the NA Z's of that era were an embarrasment to the original 240

Sorry, but yours won't be the last post. I think its pretty stupid to think that just because you have a turbo, you must be a sports car. This is not the case. If you look on any thread about 2nd gen racing, you'll see that they are usually-

A) N/A

B) Peripheral ported

C) Lightened- this means non of that gay *** chrome rims that we always see on this forum. no offence, but chrome belongs on spoons and monte carlo's.

 

 

i have a n/a and if u dont say its a sports car ill slap u!! 5spd, rear wheel drive, electronic suspension, and 8000 rpm redline dont scream sports you must be blind. any way im curently dropping in a bridge ported turbo motor in.... so what now my cars a sports car i dont think so it always was and always will be look in consumer reports where cars are classifed rx's are in the sports section thats what i got to say bout that!

Ah well, I'll chime in too. It is a sports car, I think that's been established. The proof to me came when I bought my 86 NA GXL and sold my '00 Toyota Prerunner. Guess what, it cost the same to insure the 17 year old car that's worth $3,500 as my truck which was worth $17,800. What is wrong with this picture? I wish I could convince my insurance company it wasn't a sports car (it's even an automatic, for shame I know) b/c at this rate, full coverage will cost more than the car did in 3.5 years. *sigh* I really don't want to go just to liability, but damn....this just isn't right.

 

well, i think it's a family car, seeing as how the seating room is very spacious and 4 doors and 4 full size seats are included in ALL models and all

Damn those damn insureance people got me paying rates for a sports car, it better damn well be one!

 

a sports car is not just made up from what engine it has it's everything combined, looks speed, handeling .etc.....
personally I have dusted a couple t2s in my day!and by no means does that make them have less of a sports car than me.
