Are you using a short shifter? If so, it is related to the short shifter and your specific transmission. http://mazdatrix.com/shiftrat.htm

If you are not using a short shifter, I don't know.

i replaced my bushing and threw in a short shifter for a miata in and it burzz in the first 2 gears real bad and its hard to get into first second and thrid, getting less hard as i gear up. my ranger shifts smoothly into first at 10-15 mph and my seven wont shift easily till like 5 mph and then it feels like it touching the sides or something. any ideas?

here are the bushings im not sure if you need these special short shifter ones

upper - http://mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?partnum=17-481A-M508
lower - http://mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?partnum=17-4810-M501

also i had difficulty shifting too just like that when my tranny was going it made a whining noise do you hear any whining noises while driving in gear?

Heres a quick fix for the boot issue. Most part stores sell a generic rubber shift boot that, with a little effort, can be made to fit in place of the inner and outer boots. It is cheaper, more readily available, and provides the same noise reduction and road grime protection as the OEM.

My local autozone had one that perfectly fit the 4 bolts on the transmission tunnel. In the "performance" section.

uh yea my tranny burz like it cold or something. could be a whining but ive heard many peeps trannys bur, but if you were to say my tranny going out id belive it since it a junkyard tranny.
i noticed it was so when i changed my clutch and the bell housing had 88 fc on it in junkyard scribble.

Many short shifters have this issue. They reduce leverage and shift throw (that, of course, is the point) but in doing so they make it harder to engage the gears. I personally find them infuriating and don't understand why anyone would run them on a street car since there is no benefit.

Sloppy shift bushings will make the issue even worse so anyone who is installing a short shifter needs to throw in a set of bushings as well.

canonize-ryda 04-02-11 03:01 PM

yea when removing my first shifter i didnt even have bushings on the top. when i bought a bushing kit it had the top in plastic and some other material, so i used the one that fit the best and looked right. maybe something is wrong with the way i put the bushings in. idk but maybe i flirt around with putting back in the stock one.
i know this has noting to do it but what rpm does redline buzzer come on in s4.
