No spark!

Hi

I have a 1987 rx7 turbo. and its a great car but it stoped working i cant get it to start. I spent some time working on it and found out it was the spark. I cant figure out why i am not geting any spark. But the engine dose turn over and it is geting fuel and the commpression is fine. I just went and got new spark plug wires and plugs and there's still no spark. Dose anyone have an idas as what it could be thanks.:)

OMG I just had the exact problem! lol...it turned out that my Main relay was gone! look to see if yours is plugged in.....

If you're getting fuel, most likely the main relay is not the culprit (it feeds both circuits)...There's another thread from bluemazda (or something like that) that we've been on for a couple of days now- look at it, there are a lot of troubleshooting steps in there (please don't make me type it all out again!!!) :)

Damn dude...there are like 1000 threads relating to the million things that this could be.

First things first...Check to see if the coils are getting power. Connected to the primary coil (Closest to the battery) is a yellow and black wire. Test to see if that wire has voltage on it. You should read the same as the battery give or take .5v. If you have power there are more things to check.

The thread is titled, "New Water Pump, Car Won't Start." I think... the guy who started it is named BlueMazda. Damn...Hehe...

dood....that was my problem....remember I posted it last week....well a couple of days ago I install the main relay(which was missing) and now it starts. It is behind the drivers side wheel well.

I said "most likely"- it is feasible for one set of contacts to fail on a relay (say, the ignition circuit contacts go bad, while the injector contacts are still good), but 90% of the time a relay fails, the coils burn out (not counting the "dirty contact" syndroms we have on our lighting & wiper systems)...The coils like to go on relays that are energized all the time the key is on, just like the main relay- that's why the first test is to just listen to it- if it's clicking, it's good...

Okay...So quick question... My Wiper only works on one setting...I think it is the medium. Plus it works on the spray and wipe mode...so...is that a relay, or switch? Is there an easy way to test it?

It's usually the little piece of crap under-sized relays on the switch cluster circuit board that cause these problems- the contacts get dirty from all the arcing & sparking going on when the relay is energized, from what I've heard (I haven't had any probs with the headlight or wiper switches yet, knock on wood)...Icemark is the man to get a hold of for this stuff, I think he rebuilds them for us....

Very cool! Thanks!
