No Parking lights, no interior light, no brake lights,no turn signals, no radio/clock

I am thinking its my cpu the car is an 88
my reverse lights work as work as well as my headlights
my clock flashes 1:00 when my hazards are on which dont do squat either and my door ajar light comes on when braking? wtf car was perfect yesterday too.

Icemark 02-06-08 12:42 AM

CPU has no control over the parking lights, interior lights or radio or clock.

You have a blown room fuse and probably a bad headlight switch or headlight switch harness.

DREYKO 02-06-08 02:26 AM

ok Ice dont know about the turn or headlight switches, but i can hear the relay clicking, i just dont have the lights and they dont blink in the guage bezle either.

now I am certin this was caused by me dicking with my alternator wireing, but everything is back to stock on that end and all fuses are good. I also replaced the cpu for the hell of it and still nothing.

at this point I am lost. Car runs and drives normally, but it just has no lights other than the headlights and reverse lights. and the stereo doesnt work

Icemark 02-06-08 09:42 AM

so go check the headlight switch (that is covered in the FAQ for FC), then check your audio fuse and Room fuse

DREYKO 02-06-08 02:48 PM

ok i feel horribly stupid, but i dont have the cap for my engine bay fuses and put the btn into the blank spot beside it:wallbash: ... well at least I admitted it though.

Icemark 02-06-08 02:53 PM

LOL

Most electrical gremlins sit behind the steering wheel when the car is on the road.

Similar Problem...

A few days ago, I installed an aftermarket stereo. I didn't realize the front speakers had an internal amp, so i'm guessing that fried. I read afterwards that the amp can only handle 15 watts, when my stereo was pushing 20 watts rms. (my front speakers never worked but the back two were working). So yesterday, I took out the stereo once again and put in new wires to bypass the factory amp and install new speakers. My radio never worked after that. I also noticed a bunch of other problems:

- My "hatch" & "door open" lights remained on, but only half way. when i opened them up, they'd brighten up.

- My interior lights don't work. The main interior light, the map lights, the hatch light, none of them work. I switched off the switch for the interior light from "door" to "off" and the light on the warning lights panel went away. Same for the hatch, I turned the hatch light off, and now the warning lights panel is "normal."

- If I leave the interior light to "door" and turn on one of the map lights, the "door open" light on the warning panel brightens up.

Earlier today, when I parked and switched my engine off, the hazzard lights came on 3 times. And after I locked and closed my door...the hazzard lights came on after about 10 seconds. They were flashing at a faster than normal speed, almost double the normal. It would stop when I unlocked the door and opened it. If I closed the door again, after 10 seconds, it'd do the same thing. I started up the car, and turned it back off, then it went back to normal.

I've had an aftermarket alarm installed for about 3 weeks now with no problems. I doubt it's causing this, but it's a possibility. The factory alarm was properly grounded to dissable/bypass.

so my question is, is there a short somewhere? a fuse?

About the car: It's a 88 rx7, the alarm is Clifford (w/ remote start which works fine still), Front speakers were wired straight from back of the stereo w/ new wires bypassing the whole amp thing. The stereo was grounded to one of the 4 screws holding the bracket. (the bottom one opposite side of the cig lighter) It was working fine.

Any and all suggestions welcomed, thanks.

Edit: Where is the inside fuse box located? I read somewhere that they're on the driver side kick panel, and I checked, but didn't find anything...is it hard to see? are they on the passenger side?

You should always be checking the fuses before posting as well as the FAQ for FC sticky thread.

The FAQ for FC sticky thread (found at the top of this section, the 2nd gen technical section) shows you where the fuse boxes are and what values belong in what fuses holders.

From your description, you have a blown room fuse. You probably shorted the lead out working on the radio.

I am also assuming that you didn't follow the FAQ for FC wiring directions for the radio??? Do you have your ground for your aftermarket radio hooked up correctly?

yeah always check fuses in both spots and give the cpu a good kick. thats when i do immediately after the car doesnt want to start ....then check the battery terminals to make sure there tight

I was looking for the fuse box shortly after the problem occurred. I checked under hood, but wasn't there. I checked the FAQ, and it has helpful pictures of the fuse box covers, but under the "Locations:" there is nothing. I'll rewire the radio ground to the 10mm bolt suggested in the FAQ.

you must have missed it, or there is some issue with your computer as it is where the question mark is in your picture:

Inside fuse box is roughly to the left of the 'dead' pedal, driver's side. GL.

If I go into property of it and find the link, it says: "Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator."

Is it possible you can email me the picture? thesummoner101 (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks.
