no horn
 

hey guys the horn in my 87 TII doesnt work all the sudden. the left button on the stearing wheel hasnt worked since i bought the car but the right one did and now neither of them do. when i puch the right one i hear a clicking noise under the dash somewhere. the left there is nothing
any one have any ideas???

Did you check your fuses? Also, check the connection under the center piece on the steering wheel. There is some kind of wiring/plug or something like that inside there. I remember from when I removed my stocker and installed a grant wheel.

Mine is doing that also! I think the cpu that controls it needs resoldering...

also check the connectors that plug in the top of the horn's themselves. one for each horn.

its the cpu, it needs resoldering.. the connectors running TO the cpu are fine, hence hearing the relay clicking over.. but the connections running out to control the horn are dry joints..

just pop it open and clean it up a lil with a good soldering iron.

When I bought my car mine didnt work. It turned out to be bad wiring where the horn wire goes in to the ECU. I could have fixed the wire, but I ended up replacing it. If you can figure out which wire it is, try jiggling it and see if your horn will work. If it does, go ahead and replace the wire, or just the portion that is bad.

Looking at the wiring diagram for the horn.....Pull the plug off the CPU. Find the green wire with a orange stripe. Put your meter on it. Press the horn button and look for ohm. Should show a ground when the horn button is pushed. Reconnect the plug and ground one end of a piece of wire and then insert the other end in the back of the green and orange wire. Should have honked. If it did not and the following step does cause the horn to honk, then resolder the CPU. Jumper the green and white wire to the green and red wire on the connector. Horn should have honked. If it did not then the wiring from there to the horn is ng. Almost forgot. The green wire with the white stripe is the power wire. No power, then the fuse is shot. But you checked all the fuses.
