No FCD Concequences?? Help!

I went to a shop today and it turns out that my RB FCD I bought brand new is broken.. :( Anyways I told the shop just to keep it in there for the meantime, It only stops working for a few secs not driving.. I get back home after an hour and a half long drive.. boosting pretty decent on the way home no probs.. then I goto the car meet tonight and see that there in no FCD there.. the stock plug is not even plugged in!! WTF!! and they didnt even give me my FCD back.. What would my computer be thinking right now? just not realizing that I am boosting? I could only think this is horible for my engine.. But I guess I dont have fuel cut now ill just lean out! :( anyways what do you think this would affect? thanks!

The ECU defaults to like 4psi. The car would run slightly slower under 4psi, but I doubt you would feel the difference. It would run with more aggressive ignition timing over 4psi - keep an ear out for detonation! This is one of the "cheap" tricks the Japan FC guys have been doing before we were born with these cars to get around the overboost fuel-cut. :)

what problems am I going to see runnign like this? I am useing the safc and the low/high throttle are the same setting.. And the safc goes by rpms not boost.. So my computer doesnt think I am running any boost.. and the only other point of not running one is to retard the timing? I have timing set at stock levels right now.. will this be fine for now? or should I bump it back a bit more? thanks!

I believe that the boost sensor also tells the ECU to retard the timing. If you back the timing up a little, you might be okay. Just keep an ear out for the dreaded PING!

just plug it back in and don't go over 6psi till you get an FCD back in. and then don't go over 8 untill you get a fuel pump or other fuel mods.

I would not recommend this for boost of 10psi or more. I know people who have killed motors running high boost with the boost sensor unplugged. :(

Your S-AFC "HI" setting should be for the fuel curve. This has nothing to do with ignition retard, so "FIX" the FCD problem first. You buy a $500 fuel computer, but you don't want to get an FCD???

If not, there are DIY build-it kits available on the web. Most are based on Paul Stoaks design back on the TeamFC3S list...

Ask the shop just what is broken about the fcd and how they tested to know the fcd is *broken*. What constitues *broken*????? Why did you send it to the shop???
