no airpump equals no backfire?

Has anybody else noticed WAY less backfiring after removing there airpump and ACV? When I had my bonez racepipe on originally it used to backfire loud at high RPM shifts. After removing the ACV and airpump it backfires occasionally, but its a quite muffled backfire, and it only does it when I let off around 3.5-5k rpms. Anybody know why? Its gotta have something to do with the ACV letting extra air into the Intake stream, and the lack thereof with it removed. Anybody have any ideas, experiences, or comments on this?

backfire

Well...when my car was backfiring alot, I found out my car was running rich because of a bad 02 sensor. Changed it and no more backfiring. You might also check your ACV valve. Pull it off, clean up all that carbon, make sure your vaccums are working and put it back on. Oh yeah....and im not running an air pump anymore.

My car has never had an air pump(well...not since I have had it), and it has never backfired, except the rare backfire when letting off the gas at about 4-5K rpm.
