nitrous + microtech
 

hi guys,

i have a 91 N/A and have plans for a wet nitrous system. my thoughts r to compliment it with a microtech to control the ingition, a/f ratios...etc. when i reach my goal of 120-150 HP shots......any insight?

well according to scathart on his nitrous website i think that would be to much on a stock ported motor... ive always used the rule of thumb that never run a shot that is more than half the original hp of the motor... not sure if it applies to rotaries but thats a huge shot man... check into it more.... read this website

well sean runs a combined 2 stage 280 shot......on his t2.

120 is his 1st. stage..........ive talked to him (hes in my area) and he says 120-150hp is fine. the concern is the traction.....other than that its the other settings of the complimentary mods (ignition retard and such...)

usually people complement microtech system with a nitrious system, not the other way around...

well i look at it from a forced induction point of view. u compliment turbo systems with a microtech.......ill compliment my nitrous system with a microtech.

do people really consider nitrious forced induction?

whats the definiton of forced induction? its forcing more air (and fuel to compensate) into the engien to produce more power.

what does a nitrous system do? nitrous is liquid air which is fogged into the intake (with the right amount of fuel) to produce power.

i dont agree when ppl call nitrous cheating.....in the 60s and 70s alot of muscle car fans considered turbos cheating. its another way of making power for your engine.

liquid air? heh, not quite (sounds like an oxymoron which is the first indication its not as it seems). I'm fully aware of how nitrious works and its chemistry side. I'm just not sure if it can seriously be considered forced induction...

On a side note, if nitrious is forced induction, it can no longer be naturally aspirated. BUT... it is still naturally aspirated... paradox :eek: :eek:

im fully aware my car will no longer be considered N/A, but ill make it even easier.......ill call nitrous a power adder. so what do turbos and s/c's do? add power......i always wonder y theres even a debate.


look at it this way........ask Z06 owners what they think of the current SVT. most will say its cheating due to its supercharged V8, while the Z06 is N/A. it depends what side of the pond you're on.

Why there's a debate? Heh... try joining SCCA and get that car into an n/a class, goodluck... For that matter try getting it into a FI class. Even if they did accept NO2 as a FI car, you'ld get wasted because you can't have a 50gal bottle of N02 in your car...

now your putting it into a practical usage situation. nitrous is mainly for drag racing.....try cornering with nitrous.

its still stands, nitrous is a power adder like a turbo...only not meant for track use. the debate of whether or not nitrous is forced induction or cheating should not be based on whether or not you can use it on the track. you can...just in a straight line.

im not using my nitrous to go racing in SCCA....i want it to keep my car N/A but with the option of keeping stangs and camaros off my back...should the need arise.

u cant dispute that fact nitrous, like turbos, is forced induction.
