any porting to the motor? inatkes? FPR? retard?

Engine management is not related to Direct Port. (unless you meant nitrous management... such as a progressive controller)

i/h/e
stock FPR and timing but will gladly replllace it

i meant for the engine like with fuel and stuff to tune it on the bottle

but also what controller do you recomend? i was thinking about the jacobs mastermind but not sure.

I'd get a FPR and something for timing. Keep in mind you will need to setup retard on both the leadign and trailing coils... and this can get VERY expensive. Or, you could retard your timing 2 degress from stock all the time.

Fuel: Direct port is a wet system. Just tee off of your fuel line. Wet systems have no effect on your injectors.

To tune: jet according to recommendations on both fogger sides, make a 4th gear pull on the bottle, watch your AFR's and EGT's, and then decrease the fuel side jetting until you achieve the desired afr's and EGT's.

Controller is really for drag racing... I have no experience with them... yet.

is there an ignition system i can buy that can control both?

how big of a shot can i run? with all this?
FPR
walbro intank fuel pump
NX direct port system
and timing retarded some how
probbaly just 2 degrees all the time

100-125. Try it and tell me what breaks. I have no hands on experience with nitrous on NA's.

Problem with retard units: you need 3 of them... and that can get HELLA expensive.

100 or more is asking for trouble no matter what fuel mods you have.

I agree, to a point. Depends on your engine/drivetrain set-up.

KoRE 01-08-03 10:09 AM

what will i need to break that 100 shot barrier?
engine and drivetrain wise?

rotaryracer1 01-08-03 02:54 PM

i run a 65 shot on my 86 gxl and its fine, stock motor. i have the ZEX kit on mine if you do 65 or 75 you will be happy and wont have to do any of the mods you are talking about. if you get a bigger fuel pump your car will run very rich with out an Apexi S-AFC to tune the fuel curve. it is just a lot of time and money you wont have to spend if you just go a smaller shot that i was talking about.

KoRE 01-08-03 03:44 PM

thanks but i want to go for a shot in the 100's at least 100 thgouh

Clutch, retard ($1200), TII transmission, stationary gears, engine porting would be a start.

The car does not need a S-AFC to tune richness. A FPR will fix that a lot easier. You are just pumping too much fuel into the rails and your injectors are not using enough, and the stock FPR is being over-run, and thus your fuel pressure increases, and you run rich. An aftermarket FPR will easily fix this.

TII's use a circuit to lower fuel pump output when the engine doesn't need the fuel, such as cruising and idle, sinc ethey use the same stock FPR. It is possible to wire in this circuit and cure the richness on an NA (with an upgraded pump), but it is a lot of hassle when an FPR is so reasonable.
