newbie question about strut tower bars & engine braces...

what do they do?

KenshinFC 08-12-02 02:01 AM

strut tower bars are suppose to lessen the body roll of your car and engine braces lessen the vibration of your engine. I wouldn't get the engine braces becuz I hear they could actually damage the frame to where ever you're attaching the brace to. I'm not sure about the engine braces but thats what I've heard.

You really should search on a question like this. Or check out rx7.com's website here http://www.rx7.com/cgi-local/2catalog.cgi?cat=8

Better yet go to RacingBeat's website.

strut tower brace keeps the strut towers from flexing when cornering hard. if the brace also connects to the firewall it helps stop flex when hard breaking. The flex upsets alinement which upsets handleing . The engine brace keeps the motor -trans unit from moving as much when torque is applied

The strut tower brace is basically there to prevent inducing more (negative camber) to the strut towers.&nbsp This is for the typical strut tower brace that only connects the two strut towers.&nbsp The fancy multi-point strut tower braces have a bit more strength.&nbsp You're kidding yourself if it does anything else...
