NewB looking for Pre and Post ATF suggestions

Hey, I've read all about this ATF treatment and am Still kinda amazed / skeptical about it. I've read dozens of diffrent ways of doing it and preparing for it but still nobody in diffrent threads seem to say the same things.

So far as I know,*doing this off the fly from memory.. of course I'll closely check it out before I do actually do it* you, Disconnect the negative from the ignition coils, take out the top spark plugs, get some atf in each side of the rotors, throw the spark plugs back in.. wait 24 hours or (as most people have written back) Longer. Start her up.. wait for the firetrucks to show up for the false alarm and Take her out on the highway for a few good redline runs.

Now is there anything I should do to my car before doing the ATF, Like putting a straight pipe in so the cat doesn't get all fugged up? or Should I worry about blowing the 02 sensor ? Is there a way you can prevent it ? and Have people left the cat on with no problems afterwards (hey ruining it could be a good excuse to put a bonez high flow cat on)

Now, after I've done all the sweet things to my engine to make her roar like the rex she is.. I know I replace the spark plugs (which why the heck not go with good plugs and wires.. ) *This is where I ask for you to recommend a plug and wire set*. Possibly an Oil change... I think from what I've read 20w-50 Castrol GTX will do the trick.. *Has anyone used Z-Max stuff on there Rex?* I've written Z-Max's tech support and they say it will help out the apex seals alot... I dunno. Any Recommended Oil Filters too ?

Thanks you guys for so much help.. there aren't alot of Rex owners worth there weight out around here but You guys always seem to help me alot with these posts.. Thanks for keeping me from insanity with my rex...

Just use normal plugs. NGK's.
BUR7EQ AND BUR 9EQ's. What your car should have now. They will be labelled t and l, t is trailing and goes in the top plugs, L is leading and goes in the Lower holes.
Seeing as your car is a 86, it is probably N/A, which means 20W50 is out. Just use 10W30. @0w50 is for Turbo cars. Use Mineral oil of any brand, I use castrol.
The O2 sensor may fuck up. replace it anyway, they're pretty cheap.
I'd put the oil in the lower holes (leading) since they have a larger opening into the rotors.
People do it differently b/c there are many ways to do it, no set way is right. Just get atf onto both sides of all the apex seals of both rotors.
Changing the oil after wards is a great idea. ATF can sometimes eep into the oiling system.
Should have too bad an effect on the cats. If you are worried, just get the high flow (or no cats at all) after wards.
I use the stock mazda filters, but any with an anti drain back valve (read: almost ANY filter) will work fine. I'd stay away from fram, they have the worst paper on the inside.
Chenage the wires one at a time so not to cross them or fuck them up. Its just easier.
Is Z-max synthetic? there are a few arguments for both sides, as you know... I would just use regualer oil. Change it regualerly and on schedule and drive the engine right and you will get plenty of miles on the engine.
