New Wheels: Old School Volk Racing - pics

Finally got some new wheels and had them mounted!

They are Old School Volk Racing GR-C's. They came from Japan and were mounted to a Skyline originally Now they have a new home on my '86 GXL. I really like they style - I think they suit the car.

Specs:

Front 17" X 7" +33 215/45/17
Rear 17" X 8" +36 215/45/17

While I know the tire size isn't perfect, I couldn't turn down the deal. Eventually I'll go wider - especially in the rear.

Here are some pics - Enjoy!

Looks good, but I agree you need some 235 or 245/40R17s out back. How much did you have to give for the wheels?

felixwankel88 07-12-05 06:49 PM

i like them, they look good~~~!!!!

sicc83 07-12-05 07:17 PM

These are the best looking wheels you can put on an FC IMO. It's too bad they aren't a little wider all around. Good find though!

Those are ridiculously nice man. Props.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

I think they actually suit the era of the car too.

Being an N/A - I'm not too concerned with the width of the wheels - I'd say any wider would be overkill. I was really lucky to find those offsets though!

I got 'em on ebay for about $500.... shipped :bigthumb:

Just a quick question:

When I bought the wheels, they came with Volk-Specific lug nuts. I have looked everywhere for the proper wheel locks but cannot find them. I ended up buying a set of locks that work well (The wheels are locked to the car) but they are not perfect. Ideally I'd like to get some locks that are the same shape as the Volk nuts - but they are hard to find.

Anyone know where I can get them?

JDM boy i will call you now ;)

$500 bucks you got a steal dude, those rims are nice, very very nice. I'm jealous :D

evileagle 07-13-05 10:48 AM

I wouldn't go wider than a 235 tire MAX out back, I have some 17x8s on mine and a 225 series is flush with the edge of the wheel.

kick7ca 07-13-05 10:50 AM

Nick did you used to have Mustang rims on that car? Seem to recall a pic?

FC_DRIFTER 07-13-05 11:04 AM

My bro just got the same rims for his S14. 8 wide in the front, 9 in the rear.

Nope. The car has always had the stock GXL balogna slicers until this summer.

I've seen a few sets on ebay Japan and Australia. Problem is that they all seem to be pretty abused - I hope he got a nice set! They look sick on an S14 - Mine used to be on a Skyline.

FC_DRIFTER 07-28-05 03:08 PM

One wheel has some curb rash but it's not bad at all. They look sick on his. He had to space them out a bit because of his 300zx brakes. I'll see if I can find a picture of them on his car.

Looks good. A 2-3mm spacer would make them look perfect though.

those look amazing and only 500$!!!!!!!! :crzyeye: :crzyeye: :crzyeye: :bigthumb:

fc3stech 07-28-05 07:06 PM

Yeah those are really nice, I have a question though for everyone, I have the same size tire 215/45/17 and was wondering all the size tires that would fit wider of course, without getting a bigger side wall oh and my rims are 7.5 inch wide

FC_DRIFTER 07-28-05 08:14 PM

Here are those pictures of my brothers S14 w/ the same rims. 17 x 8 in the front and 17 x 9 in the rear.

Looks good!

They seem to suit cars of this generation.

Gene 07-28-05 10:42 PM

I have those in 16" on mine. They have mfr. stickers that say 1993 on them. Mine also have the wrong bolt circle and backspacing, so they came with big bolt-on spacers that change the bolt circle and push them out.

You can find those goofy ass lugnuts at Super Autobachs in Japan, or on ebay.

Be aware, that listing is for 12x1.25, we need 12x1.5. He says he can get those too however.

Pilx 07-29-05 01:21 AM

Nice. I recently bought a set of those but in 16', I got no center cars with mine :(.
I just need to track down a set of nuts that will fit them and that wont cost $120 and I can fit mine.

Also, please lower your car... just a little bit ;)

sectachrome 07-29-05 01:40 AM

the 16s look freakin perfeeect

It is lowered! I have RB springs. The car was parked on pretty uneven ground for almost all the pics, so the gap looks bigger than what it is. The pic from across the road is more representative of what the ride height is like.

Gene: I think that they all come with the goofy lugnuts and spacers. I think that the wheels are all made in one high offset, and then the spacers bring them to the spec listed on the sticker. On my sticker for example, the front wheel says 17" x 7" +33, and that is what it is with the spacer.
