new to rotary

hey guys, i am hoping to pick up an rx7 pretty soon, not sure what model but hopefully somthing cheap, i have a few concerns that maybe you can help answer...
what kind of milage does the engine start to crap out at? how hard is a rebuild? is the car in general easy or hard to work on?

rx7matt 04-04-04 09:44 PM

the rebuild is easy i mean for me, the car is easy to work on , as far as milage i'l go for 150000
it really dpends on how heavy is your foot on the gas
just a tip dont let run without gas=end of rotary...

get the tool box stocked up before you get the car...LOL

Madrx7racer 04-04-04 11:35 PM

like he said 150K is avg.........on a well maintained FC you can expect 200K+..........Let us know when you find one......run it by us so we can help u......if you want. I'd sugest a stock car because you won't have to worry about another person's abused car......or maybe his fuck ups if they did a bad install or something.

zmepro 04-04-04 11:57 PM

yea, definitly a stock car

run for the hillsss..

mnbv 05-04-04 06:56 PM

what do you mean by that? Are rotorys a bad idea?

allforjesus06 05-04-04 07:11 PM

no, rotaries arent bad. they are awesome engines, and a real engineering marvel. if you plan to change your oil every 5000 miles, wait til the idiot cluster tells you something is wrong, or some other form of non-maintenance, then dont get an rx-7. The Rx-7 requires caring for and keeping good care of, which any car should get in the first place. And, I suggest getting an N/A before a turbo model of the Rx-7

no, rx's are a blast...if you know how to read and comprehend the English language (even better if you can translate Japanese), and you know the difference between a phillips and socket, try it- you'll like it...

Yeah, you have to baby the thing, but it's worth it.

Here's the thing though, you have to baby it in maintenance-changing oil, changing spark plugs etc... but when you are driving it, the car will take a beating and love every second of it.

It's like a high-maintenance girlfriend. you have to buy only the finest wines, go to the finest restaurants but when you get in the bedroom she wants you to pull her hair and slap her around like the bitch she is.

Yeah, the RX-7 is just like that.

hahaha JKM... that was beautiful.... it brought tears to my eyes.
