NEw rebuild WONT start, im crying

what in the living hell!!

car was working fien for 1 week , over 600 miles, evrything fine. It did have soem leakeage from the oil filter borttom, i guess the orings must be giving up ot i didnt tighten teh 2 nuts hard enough.. The leakage of oil probbaly got into teh starter? making it cloged up.. i dont know what do you gusy think? i have replaced compelty, absolutly evrything..the starter has teh right mount broken off an dis barely holding on by the screw... i can hear a weird noise when i try to start it , its coming from teh starter at least i hope it is.. i tried evry single unflodding method but nothing. it was workign fine yesterday before i put it in the parking garage.. i dont know i guess is time to throw in teh towel and get a honda civic TYPE R! no but really is a pain in the ass especially after spending almost 4k on engine SHIT! and doing mad work myself.

Pull out the spark plugs, are they covered in gasoline? And fix your friggin starter.

Ryde _Or_Die 09-05-03 03:16 PM

Try push(pull) starting it.

rotariesrule 09-05-03 03:17 PM

buy a new starter before you ruin the ring gear on your flywheel.

spunks 09-05-03 03:54 PM

Do another compression check.Check to see if your timing is correct, and make sure it's getting fuel.

vegeta6263 09-05-03 04:21 PM

im using premix only!! mayeb im putting too much? im puttign 16 onzes per 15 gallons

spunks 09-05-03 04:40 PM

Not terribly too much.I think it's supposed to be 1 o to the gallon. But check the posts about premixing to be sure.

SonicRaT 09-05-03 05:10 PM

Well shit, is it even TURNING over? Or is it just sitting there looking stupid at you? We can't tell you jack if we don't know if it's even turning over!

vegeta6263 09-05-03 05:27 PM

no its not even trying to turn over, the rpms are on teh floor not even moving. the spark plugs and wires
are new ngk both, i just checke dthem they are both dry as hell and i clean them just in case with a rag. anyways the starter seem to have mad oil liek around it, i can jack it up i have no tools in in college so teh car is in a parking garage. so yeah im gona try again tomorrow/. it was working perfectly fine yesterday night even though i noticed it died while i was in gear for no reason. it happened twice thast what make sme think it might be teh starter. also teh car is full of oil and the pressure was runnong fine yesterday too.. i dont know gusy any ideas?

jreynish 09-05-03 05:46 PM

ok your tach is not bouncing....
does the engine accually turn over i mean can you hear it turning over? If not fix you starter... if it is then there is a problem with you CAS... I went through this exact similar problem with my own rebuild. It ended up being a brocked wire in the harness from the trailing in the CAS to the ecu... so check everything use your FSM and check the voltages. that is your best way of figuring it out!

dr0x 09-05-03 06:08 PM

Stop your oil leak, remove your starter and clean it off, use dielectric grease on the connections and install it properly.

Are you sure on the premix amount? Ive been using 6oz for every tank.

Read my thread. The recommended amount of two stroke oil when running ONLY pre-mix is about 1oz per gallon of fuel in the tank. I just dump 16oz in anyways for insurance. ;) 6oz is a tad too little. I would up it to atleast 10oz which I remember some guys run safelly with that amount.

He said 16oz for 15gal. Anyways.. If your starter is hangin on by a thread then i would think you need to fix that first. I mean if its not even turning over i would look at that first..

When my A/C Compressor blew I cried, because all I heard was a loud noise running through the car when it was being driven. Didn't know what it was.

My engine just siezed up on me this mid-afternoon. I cried, miserbly. Nothing wrong with crying over something you love badly.

He paid alot of money for his rebuild (I think..? lol)- and for it to not work right after getting it done, I would cry too.

What is wrong with that?

BTW - Like it has b een posted before.....how come your starter is hanging by a thread? Shouldn't you fix that first? Probably one reason why it doesn't run....

and.... get that leak fixed! It is not good :(

Freaky Monkey007 09-05-03 10:05 PM

Well the question is did he pay for the rebuild or rebuild and installing it as well.. Cuz if he did the 1st then its his fault and if its the 2nd he should take it back and have it checked out.

I had a similar problem with my first car, an old VW station wagon. I took off a starter mounting bracket and then the car wouldn't start. Turns out that the bracket was not only a structural piece, but also a grounding piece.

If your starter is not bolted up to the transmission correctly (you say it has a broken mount), replace it, then cry. Shit breaks and you have to fix it if you expect the car to be healthy.

I think having your starter not solidly bolted to the transmission is causing a loss of grounding to the starter motor, disabling it, leaving your engine unperturbed in freshly rebuilt slumber.

Please take ENG101 at your local community college. :)

Rotortuner 09-05-03 10:48 PM

PULL START IT! for the 5th time on here, it almost always works. Fix the oil leak and call it good.

thank you guys, ill see what i can do.

vegeta6263 09-09-03 08:11 AM

The car started.
Problem: Dead Battery
Fix: They recharged the battery i hope it was reading .05 volts. I jumped it with my friend's battery cables and we got it to start. I have still a weird ass noise right when i turn the key. like from the starter i think so i have to check it out. Hopefully thats all it is

vegeta6263 09-09-03 08:15 AM

oh and christi thanx for the support YOU RULE!

vegeta6263 09-10-03 07:57 AM

the car died again. now im not sure if its the battery, teh starter or the alternator. could it also be because the engine hasent build up enough compression yet? and would premix cuz a lil of smoek at start up?

RETed 09-10-03 08:06 AM

You need to monitor the electrical voltage if you want to blame the electrical (i.e. battery, alternator, etc.).

A small puff of smoke on start is fine for someone running pre-mix.&nbsp We usually run half a quart (16oz.) per tank of gas.&nbsp Most of us have 16.x gallon full capacity fuel tanks, but the GAS LOW light triggers anywhere from 12 - 14 gallons - this means you're running pre-mix ratios under 100:1, which would explain the small amount of smoke.

1987RX7guy 09-10-03 11:23 AM

Hans- I told you already what to do. Did you even listen to me? If your just sitting there waiting for an answer your not going to get it. You are the only one that can help YOU since you are there and we are not. Get your battery and alternator off the damn car and have them tested at autozone ASAP. Get the oil leak from the oil pedestal fixed.

Also I don't see how the engine would run fine for all this time that you have had it now and then it looses PSI on the rotors again. That is kind of backwards don't you think? It should only gain compression right now. Its practically new as it is. Unless you did something wrong which I doubt even though logic would suggest you could have really fucked it up lol!
