new motor or just rebuild?

alright heres the deal: i bought my 90 gtu a few months ago with a bad motor (ie o-rings were bad) i decided not to drive it till i could afford a quality rebuild/motor. after it has been sitting for so long, would it be better to just get a new motor or would it still work fine to just get it rebuilt? my only concern is that any oil that got into the combustion chambers might be eatin away the internals so i just thought i ask you guys for advice! thanks all

There is always oil in the combustion chambers. It is part of the normal operation of a rotary engine. If you go to www.howstuffworks.com or even search around here on the forum you can get a better understanding of how it works.

As far as motor choices.... "a new motor" doesn't really exist for these cars. You can't just go buy a crate motor from Mazda or anything. The best way to go is to get a quality rebuilt motor, or if you are looking for a stopgap solution and don't want to wait you can pick up a J-Spec Turbo motor for under $1500 these days and do it that way.

What the hell are you talking about? You cant order a crate?? Yes you can.

renesis yes, but as far as crate motors the only ones you can buy are mazda remans which still have used parts unless they recently started building brand new 13Bs again which i doubt.

unless that was some sort of joke...

well yea i know as much as there aren't "new" motors. figure of speech. i guess what i should have said was "mazda reman" motor.

hahhaa... what the hell ARE YOU talking about?

p'owned.

brand new 13b motors for our cars don't exist anymore, unless you're getting a renesis.

I would say crack open that motor and work from there. You'll know whether to rebuild, buy a jspec, or get a reman.
