New Issue =(

----------1989/90 Aus-delivered RX7 Turbo-------------

Well tommorow was supposed to be a big suck up day to my "kind of girlfriend", well anyway, was on the way to the florist this morning. Had a real smart plan and all that. Then after driving for about 10 mins? Oil lamp thingy comes on the idiot cluster, along with the smell of burning oil coming through the vents. Now i'm a very positive person(and still driving rotary!) so instantly thought it was just low oil. Even though i always check my fluids and stuff, that's what i was hoping.

So called a mate to come with some oil, he was minorly pissed off cause he was studying, and i thought yup all good, fill it up and can finish my buisness. At this point i decided it was time to pop the hood and see what really had happened! Opened the hood.... And entire engine bay covered in oil, so first thing i did was call my tow guy and make sure he was awake, was about 8:30 in the morning. Got it towed to the performance joint i go to, they were scared of the problem because it's got a little word called rotary attached to it, so this monday morning it's getting towed to Promaz.

Now over the story, help is required. Try and help you guys out with everything i know. When i got the car it was leaking a minor amount of oil from somewhere around the front right of the engine, kinda low down(looking from infront of the car) i thought it was an oil seal? and also leaking some oil from the turbo i'm pretty sure. Other than having to fill up oil every couple of weeks, it has been no problem(so it could be unrelated?) I've blocked the blow off valve about a week ago(guessing that's unrelated, but just incase!). And now what i think may be the problem, on sunday we had the first hot weather for the spring, got to about 32 degrees celcius. I was thinking my oil may be too thin for that kind of heat? The car was having trouble starting on that day, not from cold though. Also the night before it happened i degreased my engine, could that have done something?

When it happened this morning, didn't notice any really weird readings on my oil pressure but at the time it occured can't really remember, was focused on pulling over and turning it off as quickly as possible. I'm thinking it may be an oil line has burst, or the seal has given way?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

P.S Over the "kind of girlfriend" now, taken it as a sign from god that it wasn't supposed to happen. But whyyyyyyyy did he have to use my RX as his tool? xD

Most likely it's the lines to the cooler.

If you have your rats nest removed and you beat the piss out of your car it will squirt oil from the bottom of the oil fill tube from a little piece. Perfect excuse for an oil catch can.
