bumpie!

Scott 89t2 01-29-04 08:37 PM

you probably forgot to lossen the 17mm nut on the pulley before turning the top bolt huh?...

the top bolt should move freely with no pressure at all once the 17mm pulley nut is lose.

CyborgRyu 01-29-04 08:37 PM

I just see red X's

Madrx7racer 01-29-04 08:38 PM

Nice.......White smoke usually means a coolant seal is messed up......when it is cold the seal contracts letting coolant seep in, when it warms up the coolant expands and closes the leak........to replace them you need to tear the engine apart...so you might as well rebuild and do some porting.......nice clean looking car though......enjoy.

Pics dont work

Madrx7racer 01-29-04 08:45 PM

yuhuh, I see them fine......Is that a yellow camaro in one of the pics? Get rid of those rims ASAP!!! sell them to a Honda driver...u'll get top dollah.

TwEaK 01-29-04 09:01 PM

venomrx7 01-29-04 09:21 PM

why do you want power steering? i took mine off, and love not having it
you'll save a little weight, and gain a little power, but best of all, you'll get a better feel for the road

TwEaK 01-29-04 09:34 PM

cause it just feels odd having no power sterring when i was trying to back out the car jesus was it hard was easier when got moving but still it feels odd

dubrc 01-29-04 09:35 PM

damn fine looking car, bling and all lol :D

TwEaK 01-29-04 09:52 PM

its nice i gotta get rid of those nasty rims soon as i get some cash but b4 rims i care more about reliability and i cant have any problems cause this is my get to school car so im prolly gonna buy a used TII motor and swap it in there
TwEaK

Madrx7racer 01-30-04 02:17 AM

nice......I still think you should remove the Power steering...........you will get used to it fast and you'll like it more.....

RRTEC 01-30-04 02:23 AM

the wheels prolly add 100lbs to the car so i bet it's hard to steer....nice car...run some cd-2 (silver bottle) in the oil and use 20w50 it made the smoking go away PERMINENTLY in my car..it was like a seal was stuck and now it isn't...just an idea..

elfking 01-30-04 03:13 AM

You definately got a good deal, it looks really clean etc. The little coolent leak you are having doesn't mean you have to tear the engine apart right away either. To my understanding its somewhat like blowby on a piston engine... you can live with it.. its annoying. Unless you have the time right now to tear it all apart and go at it... My friends was doing it for a good year or so and he never touched it. ;)

Have fun with the car... Im in the same boat, need to ditch some rims and a wing that came on mine. :cursing: I don't see how people can do such things to the car.... oh well ill fix em.

Enjoy

TwEaK 01-30-04 06:06 AM

lol forreal i just need the $$$ to get some new ones =/

nice car is, im new to the 7 so this may sound like a stupid question

since u said it was a new paint job, does that mean it was a different color??? if so what is the color of the color code of the white???

Im also supposing to buy mine today, if i can find the stupid guy!!!!!!!!!!!! For some reason after someone says ill find his number for you, there cell phone breaks

lol

good luck on ur car, hope mines is as clean as yours!!!

Wicked_razor 01-30-04 10:12 AM

just get rid of the power steering, you dont need it, it just gets in the way

eljefe62 01-30-04 10:46 AM

My bolt broke there also, got it welded back together, and it's held ever since... but if no welders in the family, I would have gone to Pick-A-Part(or whatever junkyard in the area) and found a suitable bolt...
As far as getting rid of PS goes, I went w/out for a couple weeks on mine, and just could not get the turning reaction I could WITH PS, it is definitely a matter of taste...

Terbowetoo 01-30-04 10:52 AM

You want reliability, but youre going to "throw a TII motor in there?" N/A=more reliable than a TII, plus that swap can get expensive.

Digi7ech 01-30-04 12:41 PM

To fix the snapped bolt go to an Ace Hardware with the remains of the bolt.

They should check it and get one as close to it as they can.

I snapped it off tightening ittoo much one time and did this.

Ace has saved my car a whole lot of times.

Nice paint job. The rims are a little too thick and bling for me but if you like them then right on.

A coolant leak will be constant through out the rpm range. At idle mine would seep out a little cloud. The next day it wouldn't even turn over.

If it's just at start up and it turns over fine then I would guess it's normal. At morning/1st start up from dead cold they will usually puff a little cloud.

One way to tell a coolant seal wopuld be run the car and then turn it off. Take the spark plugs out and see if they are wet. If thier wet then you don't have much time to get a new engine.

A Tii swap will cost in the range of 2-3k depending on how good you want to do it. I'm going to full out rebuilt way. My 88 GTU including cost of the car comes to a toal of over $6000 so far.

TwEaK 01-30-04 07:05 PM

i know the TII cost a lot but im about to finish school im gonna get into racing i got to the races every tuesday and thursday theres 2 fc's there a black one with a 20b single turbo motor very nice and very fast i think he is one of the fastest there... but yea the car was recently painted it was painted the orginal color tho it doesnt look that bad at all there are some drips that are noticable but other than that it looks very nice im glad with the car hopefully it does good things for me =P

A bolt is a bolt...Just go to the hardware store and get a replacement...Personally, I would lose the power steering and swap in the manual rack. I've never liked power steering, especially on the FC. The manual rack is actually pretty well balanced and easy to turn...if you find it too hard, well, grow some muscles. ;)
