"New" Engines
 

Well my RX died thursday. The eccentric shaft broke, so now I'm looking for a new engine to replace it. Dose anyone know of a good place they would recomend getting a "new" one at? I've looked at some junkyards, but I'd rather go with a shiney new (or at least referbed) engine.

Also, even thought the engine is being replaced, could there be any other issues that could come up with the car due to this kind of failure, that I should look out for.

Hmmm...at least with a new engine out, Ill be able to get all the stuff done on it that I wouldnt have before *cough* porting *cough* ;)

r u sure its the e-shaft? I think its very rare to snap those. I would think a seal would go way way before the e-shaft would.

Anyways...plenty of places to get a rebuild. Cost for a rebuild would be anywhere from $1000-3000.

U can get a mazda reman. engine but thats around $2200 too (I think). Plus, you may be getting "in-spec" used housings, so thats a slight risk IMO.

There is always J-spec, but those are all turbos, so unless u want to do a swap, that rules that option out.

If doing an engine, I would also do clutch (I recomend ACT) and mounts, hoses, belts, PR sleeves. etc.

Yah it was the e-shaft. Had 2 others look at it just to be sure. Yup, its broke.

I *was* thinking of getting a turbo, but I'm not sure, I think I'll just stick to NA.

get a mazda reman.
i blew a seal and looked around forever and went with that.
$1961 and change after the gasket set and all tax ect.
put it in and it runs great.... except for that giant vacuum leak in my emissions crap

Call Ray Crow @ Malloy Mazda 703-490-8170 for a factory remanufactured. He'll give you a price shipping, gaskets and all. They'll want a core deposit, unless it's somebody they know doing the install. Naturally it will be returned, with receipt of "old" motor.

do yourself a favor and go turbo. I'll never go back to N/A except for the nostalgia of running a 4-rotor N/A motor that could spank just about anything else on the road (but that's a few years away).

Go with Pineapple Racing...new rotor housings, and the best warranty in the business. Runs excellent too, and you gotta get a street port! ;)

seriously, how'd you break your mainshaft? or was that a mistake? extremely curious if you did. and an N/A?

I doubt that you broke a E-shaft. I think someone was smoking crack.

How many HP are you pushing through to damage an E shaft??? You won't do it with less than 400Hp.
